the pin came in ugly bright orange.. so i painted it black.

If I was sure I never need mine I'd sell it but you never know and right now mine's sitting in the corner of the garage since I didn't need the extra weight being carried around for nothing.

RunnerUP, That looks like the hitch that's on the one I'm going to buy. Does the sticker say "WEIGHT CARRYING ONLY" on it?

My 2001 has a Reese trailer hitch. It says:

Pete, Thanks for the pic. That's the same one that's on mine (I picked it up Saturday). When I called Reese they said I couldn't use a weight distributing system with it. I notice from your profile you pull a pop-up with yours. Does it have a weight carrying or weight distributing hitch?

The pop-up is about 1,550 pounds and loaded about 2,100 pounds. It has a weight carrying only. I looked into heavier trailers and they recommended a weight distributing hitch. I stuck with a smaller trailer and may plan going on up to a bigger trailer and a bigger SUV for my retirement, of course the price of gas in 5 years is a unknown and we may be all driving Honda Civics.

You sure get a lot nicer trailer when you go up 4,000 pounds or so, but I wasn't sure if my 4Runner would be happy with it. I took the trailer out west this Summer, went as far west as Yellowstone, WY.

I'll let you know next summer. I usually either rent or borrow a 19"-21" camper. In the past I have pulled it with my Cherokee but will use the 4-Runner now. I will replace the hitch with one that will accomodate weight distribution. I'm also going to add a tranny cooler.

I have the same factory hitch as LEE and it has drooped some since i towed a little with it. looks like it bent down or something.
what is the towing capacity of this hitch as well as the vehicle? 96 limited 4x4
i have seen 3500# to 5000# in various places.
