I know alot of people are not really into the look of the halo projector headlights. i want to get a pair of these but all of my friends who have bought these have all run into issues with either fogging melting, or just halos not working. If anyone knows of a good site to buy these from please let me know ASAP christmas money needs to get spent!

I also recommend staying away from them. Peeps on another forum have had major headaches with them.

the runner is used primarilly for me to drive to my high school. the area i live in has no trails or off roading. a lift kit would be pointless and decen waste of money. any other suggestions

Right, but it would look like a man owned the truck, and not a middle aged woman.

Darker Window tint?

Pull off your running boards? (It's even free)

If you want to mod your lights, why not just do an HID kit instead of making them ricey?

Exhaust?

Air intake?

ok these all sound like good suggestions, butttt any darker window tint and im bound to get pulled over...(state laws) and another ticket suspends my license.

running boards sound good, but when i goto trade in the 4runner for a new runne in some years, will i be able to reattach them?

i have high output/intensity hyper white xenon bulbs for high/low/fog bulbs right now, unless you look you at the bulbs you cant tell they arent HID.

i was also thinking about an exhaust, but not a full catback, maybe just a muffler. how does the runner sound with a dynomax/flowmaster/magnaflow mufller only no catback?? anyone know?

the intake i personnaly dont see as a neccesity, i think my runner has plenty of horsepower and that the engine sounds pretty throaty stock. i have maxed out my speedometer 0-110 and beyond until it tops outand it gets there quick enough to smoke all my friends rides so performance mods are kind of on the back burner.

give me your answers, and opinions for my questions? it would be great guys thanks. :bigok: by the way i am not a middle aged woman

1) Yes you can, each side is attached by 6 bolts. All you need is a basic socket set to take them off.

2) Like HID is still not HID. :D

If you're wanting those headlights, why not just do the 06-08 headlight conversion. You can get a set of stock headlights for the same price, and with a few other things (new bulbs, a new bulb harness for $25, two new trim pieces) you can get the better light output than the halo headlights. Plus you can always add an HID kit later on. No matter what bulbs you have in your stock reflector style lights, they will never look like HID.

There are several other things you can burn your hard earned Christmas money on for your 4Runner than those headlights. If you want to be in the minority and get those headlights, its your money, spend it how you want, but be prepared for some negative comments. I'm not telling you those lights are good or bad, I'm just telling you to be prepared. Good luck on your decision and welcome aboard.

ok you got me interested in the 06-o8 conversion.... i noticed one thing tho.... the 06-08 had what looks like a slightly larger headlight, there is a little edge towards the bottom insides. will i need any type of modification. any write ups??

The headlight is basically the same with the exception of the bottom, inner side. You need to get new trim pieces called "filler panels" that go below the light, and there will be a gap between the inside corner of the light and the grille, but its not that noticeable. Some might disagree, but in my opinion, its not that bad. I have some of the necessary parts but need a few more to do the conversion.

If you don't plan on getting HID now, and I say this because you can get some places that sell HID to give you a swappable harness that converts our bulb harness under the hood to the new bulbs in the headlights, you'll need to get a new wiring harness. Our lights are 9006, the new ones are H11, before you ask. You can get this from Gary at Innovative Wiring. Just make sure you specify in the notes of the 9006 to "whatever" wiring harness that you need the 9006 male to H11 female sockets. The harness is $25.

You need to do a search (yes, I know it doesn't work that well) for a write-up on this. iFORCE has done one before. Search threads with his name in them.

The swap is better than those aftermarket headlights IMO. Some would disagree, as everyone favors their own opinion. Good luck.

ok that sound prtty complicated. simonsez i knowww that you really dont like the halo projectors, but im a kid and i think they look kinda cool. i managed to find another type, besides the black and chrome housing. below are the three types ive found

Don't pay any attention to what I like, do what you want. Its your money, and your rig, dress it up how you see fit. I'm sure there are people that think my ride is too conservative for them (its actually a lack of funds that prevent me from turning it into what I really want). Yes, you'll get some flack from some people for doing certain things to your 4Runner, but ultimately, its yours not theirs. Make it as unique and different as you want and enjoy!
