I need help!

Hey, Alright so my 01 4Runner is running lean according to my CEL code, and I've changed out my fuel filter, both o2 sensors or one o2 and one air/fuel ratio, whatever you want to call it. Here's what my truck is doing though. At wide open throttle, it sits goes to about 1500 rpm, and stops, but at about 3/4 throttle (when I'm lucky) it can slowly get up to SOMETIMES 4500. Now, that's when I'm lucky, usually I can't get it past 3K. When I drive it down the highway, I can barely get it up to 70 mph, and that's after I accelerate at about the slowest possible rate. So, you pretty much get the point, but I can't take it anymore. I need answers, PLEASE! I think that it could be the injectors, but I need to know if anyone has had this problem and how you fixed it. PLEASE, I need as much help as possible with this. Thanks

My guess is your MAF (mass air flow) sensor is dirty or malfunctioning. Get a can of MAF sensor cleaner and clean it. Follow the directions and DO NOT touch the sensor with your fingers. ( I think a new one is about $80)

If that doesn't work try your knock sensor next.

If that doesn't work check the throttle body motor & accelerator sensor

If that doesn't work check the VVT system. (if you have it)

After you clean the MAF sensor you may want to consult a dealer because there are specific tests to each of these systems that require their diagnostic equipment.

BTW, which engine do you have?

v6, I've cleaned the MAF with cleaner already too, ran ohm and resistance tests on alot of sensors, all came out normal...

Alright, so I decided to take apart the engine, kind of. I am going to give it a tune up, but I need to know the best and worst spark plugs to use in the v6 engine? I had bosch +4's in the engine, and they looked clean, but I need to know if these are known to not work or work the best with the engine before I buy some more. I didn't put them in originally. Any info on plugs wires, coils, more tune-up stuff that needs to be done, I have plenty over 100k miles on the engine. Thanks

If I was mechanically inclined I would tell you to keep troubleshooting till your hearts content.....however I have the mechanic skills of a platypus =) So, my $.02 is to take it in to the dealer and have them test it. Sure it is $80 to test, but if you keep troubleshooting the wrong thing.....those expenses might add up on you.
