I ordered a T4R TRD Pro in Army Green- Talk me out of a Sequoia

You dont state a 4x4 function in this at all. Hylander is hands down a better vehicle and cheaper for the function you describe. Interior is light years better, mpg as well, space is similar.

If you were to have 4x4 goals, then a 2019 Trd pro at 50k? is a waste of money. Buy a used 2016 Land Crusier as mentioned in another post. LC is also bulletproof and superior in every way.

Need lots of space? Sequoia works, but so does a new 2020 Tundra with a cap.

A new trd pro 4runner is a glorified sticker pkg imo. How much of it are you gonna mod in addition? The vehicle is aesthetically pleasing to some, but a 10yr old drive train and trans with a steering wheel wobble at 60mpg sporting a lack luster interior.... At 50k it's not a value imo. I got my 2010 for 15k. If I went nuts and got wheels, supercharger, vynil wrap, lift, decked out stereo and refreshed interior pieces, I've still spent less than a 2019 Trd pro and my vehicle is boss compared to your stocker.

That's just one man's .02

My biggest piece of advice is to buy what makes you happy. Regardless of what makes sense you wont keep anything that doesnt satisfy you when driving it.
 
If you only drive 10K a year how much room do the dogs really need? I think the back of the T4R with seats folded down is big enough for two dogs of most any size.

Also the price diff is way more than $5K, on the 2019's it's closer to $15k on just the base model. I can't remember a model year that the price decreased by $10K

I carry two 95lb Dobermans in the back of our 4Runner with the rear seats folded down weekly. The Sequoia sounds overkill and if you need more room and towing capability then I'd bypass both and go for a proper half-ton or another SUV with a 10K+ towing capacity like the Expedition. If you can swing $55-60K then I'd find a clean 2016+ Land Cruiser instead. But you didn't ask about alternatives, so in regards to the two you listed I would stick with the 4Runner, it'll likely end up being the most sought after TRD Pro 4Runner ever built down the road and it'll run circles around that Sequoia off-road.

Did you test drive both of them? Love my 4Runner, but I think a 5.7 Sequoia TRD Pro would be pretty sweet. Loads of space, and it’ll actually hold its gears cruising up hills on the highway.
 
If I’m buying something larger than a 4Runner it’s going to be a Land Cruiser. I prefer my Toyota’s built in Japan and have really good aftermarket support from companies like ARB.

The latest gen Sequoia is bloated and looks absolutely horrid.

I dig the Army Green color. Good choice.

I have a 2017 Tundra crewmax Limited as well as a 2018 4 Runner SR5 Premium. If I’m being honest, the drivetrain and on road behavior of the Tundra is leaps and bounds ahead of the 4 Runner, its got gobs of power everywhere and is smoother and quieter at all speeds... the Sequoia will be even better. The 4 Runner is leaps and bounds ahead of the Tundra off road. The new Sequoia with the 8 speed ought to be even better than the Tundra on road. The touch screen in my 4 Runner is tiny compared to the one if the new Sequoia / Tundra... not sure if Thursday updating things for 2020 but something to consider. I personally think both drivetrains are bulletproof and will outlast the truck, whatever one you get. I’d drive both for awhile - pretty sure Enterprise rents the Sequoia. Maybe get one for a whole weekend and really put some miles on it. You already know what the 4 Runner is like. Good thing is - both are going to be great trucks.
 
I will say this, if you plan on doing any fire trails or forest service roads, a lot of them will be too narrow for a Sequoia, Most of the ones I've ventured out in Oregon will fit Jeeps and 4Runners width wise but anything else and you're going to have some serious panel damage.

Well best parts of the Sequoia are not the family hauling aspects. So if that is what you are buying it for then I might agree with you. But if you want a completely reliable vehicle for towing, camping, loading up with crap and beating on for the next 20 years then it is clearly the best full size SUV.
