Hello there! I'm very new to the forums and the 4runner scene, I bought a 1990 4runner with a 6" lc lift and a very messed front end.
the three bolts that fasten down the upper control arm on my drivers side have lifted, and jammed against my steering rod, This is the second time this has happened and They both happened while driving.. ( Scary as FU**!!) The mount is part of the frame and the driver side motor mount. ANY ideas if you can buy these or anything? or do I have to cut one off from a junkyard? I haven't found any related problems on-line, so I thought I my as whttp://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/sad/sad0064.gifell see what everyone thinks... The p.o had the torsions cranked all the way up and this mount has taken ALOT of stress. and I can see that the p.o had tried to fix it and failed.

Can you take a pic a little further out? I'm trying to figure out exactly what the issue is.

yes you can buy them seperatly from toyota (Left sides)
51048-35030 engine mount bracket
51502-35070 for the top suspension bracket

but I would for sure find out what the problem is first before just replacing

Alright, this is what I have to show you for now... definately a little confusing,
#1 is the side engine mount on the left side of the vehicle.
#2 is the bracket that where the three bolts that hold down you upper control arm is.The single bolt on the front took the nut with it... the 2 that are suppsoed to be on the right came off with the part of the bracket that had been welded from the p.o.

looks like the engine mount was ripped off the frame then re welded.
better find one from the junk yard clean it up and re weld it on properly.

hey, yeah I thought that! but the engine mount bracket taht you can buy doesnt come with the peice to hold the control arm down?

What size tires are ya running? I've seen this w/ too much lift, too much torsion, and too big a tire, like 35"s.

FWIW, here's a great fix. Weld the replacement pieces back on after a thorough cleaning and inspection of the frame. Specifically look for cracks, carbonization from the bad weld-fix. Might also want to consider plates to box the new set in a lot better. I've even seen people plate the frame before putting the new one's back on just to fix the prior issue. Use decent thickness plate and accomodate for the additional thickness added then just fish hole weld the plate to the frame for the win.*Pic stolen from CBI to use as reference.

bump! finally fixed it!, I flattened the top of the mount where the 3 bolts threaded in. put a half inch thick peice of steel under the mount. and threaded bolts in with nuts on the bottom!
