I wanna start the mods

I got my 07 Runner for Christmas as my first vehicle and I have fell in love with it. I haven't done anything to it yet and I'm ready to start. I have been looking around lately to look at mods and a lot of them are things that I don't need like a lift and sliders because I'm not going to off-road in the Runner. So I just wanted you guys to introduce me to some mods that would be pretty cool. Btw I have about 500 in the bank to spend so that's my price range.
1. I know that I want window tint cause I can't stand the front windows being a different shade
2. I want new floor mats
3. LEDs inside and out maybe?
Also if you guys could tell me opinions on some tires. I have Geolandar's on right now that came with the Runner and so far they haven't gave me any problems. I might just get a new set.
Also thinking about getting new wheels.

check the weekend mods sticky. most on there are within your current budget or free... also the DIY FAQ sticky...

I believe the most functional and least expensive mod to be the poly sway bar bushings and poly rear endlinks (~$55 total). measure your sway bars twice, order once my only advice there.. interior LED light conversion is probably the second most used, functional mod...

tires run anywhere from 600-1500... and are so subjective. Since you have zero plans to go offroading I'd get a hard compound, high mileage, highway tire for maximum life.

If you want a different look cheap for wheels I'd suggest plasti-dipping your wheels first. it's $30 and can totally change the look of your 4runner... I always thought gunmetal plastidip would look cool with your color runner but most people do black.... totally up to you.

if you don't need new tires then don't buy them, its money thrown away on the tires you already have if you do. i second the interior leds and sway bar bushings, for under $100 you can change the look and feel of your 4runner.

P.S. since your 4runner was a gift, from your parents i assume, before i do any mod, i would think "will this make it better, or worse". my first car was owned by my parents, and whenever i did any sort of modification, i kept them in mind, because they are making the big payments. so any mod you do, make sure you're improving the 4runner, not adding anything detrimental

Nice! Doing the "useless" mods is my favorite! I do those to my car all the time because i like to make my car pretty :-)

Your price range (at least in my area) wouldn't get you very far :-(

The tint costs about 250 bucks for the front windows alone, my weathertech's were free but they seem to be about 120 bucks on average, and Quality LED's inside and out could get you to 300+ bucks easily.

My favorite mods have come to my car is a good ol' can of Plastidip and some elbow grease.

I hope you can get everything you want done! But don't sacrifice quality, especially on LEDs, they'll just end up being poop and burning out due to poor build quality.

plastidip the door handles and roof rack to match the wheels... :rockon:

(if you don't like it or get sick of it, then you can just peel it off... in the mean time it will protect the paint so you can sell it as investment protection to your rents :-)
 
Led lights inside are cheap on amazon maybe 30$ for the whole car and then you can get two little bars for underneath seats at walmart for another 20$ cheap and looks great
 
Maybe I got bamboozled on my tint. But whatever, luckily the was on the Touareg I sold. My current 4runner came pre-tinted at 20% so I'm not too bothered :-)
 
Plasti-dip is AWESOME!! :)
The best part is there is no sanding or anything.. just clean with alcohol to get rid of any oils and dirt. If you don't like it just peel it off! :)
I've only done my badges so far but I plan to do my grill, door handles, and wheels.
I have about $300 worth of husky liners in mine and I would do it again! I love not having to worry about my carpet.

I just upgraded my interior lights to LEDs last week and they are awesome!!
I got this set which came with reverse lights too!

I plan to get some LED light strips to put in the cargo area (mounting them to the underside of the cargo cover). Also for the sun visors.

Or you can buy precut tint for the front two windows for about $30 and do it yourself. There's plenty of youtube videos, and compared to other modifications that someone can DIY, tinting requires very minimal know-how.

I'm personally a huge fan of led's since I'm always on no budget and i rarely off road except when I go out to a farm with friends and try my luck through some mud holes. I've changed almost all my lights to led's exterior and interior. Here are some pictures to get your thought process going. Any questions just ask.

And I'm another supporter of plasti dip to its price and the change it can make to the appearance

Real easy too. Cost about 10 dollars for 17 feet of led strips. 2 bucks for no soldering connectors. 3 bucks for wires and 3 bucks for a switch. Plus the experience of learning how to wire different things
