Can anyone suggest the best way I can get a smoother ride on my 05 Sport Edition? I plan on getting stock FJ Cruiser coil springs for the front( if I can find them used) but don't know if I'm supposed to switch the rear out as well? I was told that if I do the front it will level it out and the difference is night and day as far as a better ride goes. Any ideas and guidance would be appreciated!

6112s on the zero setting? Or 5100s on the zero setting with light load OME or FJ coils.

I did the fj swap too and it improved the ride quite a bit. You might as well go front and rear springs instead of just the front.
I have fj all around with original xreas. Since its not leaking I rather not spend the money. Im sick of upgrading stuff on my vehicles and end up selling it down the road a year later..lol
However I dont plan on selling the runner for a long time.. But life changes and so do my vehicles. I cant guarantee it anymore.
Anyhow after the initial spring swap and a 1'' spacer up from to level it out. The truck rides a bit stiffer in a good way. Not bouncy at all. It was worth the 80 bucks.
BTW OP.. if you truly want a smoother ride get rid of the 4runner and get a independent rear. like a highlander. You can never get a truly smooth ride with solid front or rear end.. The 4runner is 10x smoother than my old wrangler. Wife and kid dont seem to mind it so im ok.

Thanks for the response. I would never sell my T4R anytime soon, love it to much. I love how the 4th Gen has a muscular aggressive look to it. That being said, my wife is always saying how rough it is so that's the main reason I'm looking for a smoother ride. Going to change out the tires as well as I currently have 265\70\17 Dick Cepek Mud Country tires. Thinking of going to 265\65\17 General Grabber AT2 ? They seem to have a good reviews and are supposed to be a smooth quieter ride. Anybody have any opinions? --BTW if anyone has any leads on FJ coils,shocks. let me know. Thanks

Just received my 6112's today. Thanks for supporting the members on this forum with a discount. Question: Which is a softer ride for a daily driver: 6112's at zero setting with a small front spacer to get some lift, or 6112's at the .85 setting?

Changing the tires itself would do wonders. Especially from mud tires. Just get the regular c load if you decide to go with all terrain tires. Unless you are towing or heavy loaded. Just get tires with less side plywall. People tend to get tires for how aggressive they look. Intil they realize they have to live with them for at least a few years. Heck i bet 70 percent of people here can get away with passenger truck tires including myself. Sure i load it for camping, kayak, dirtbike, etc. but even at that load a passenger truck tire would be fine. Sadly my truck spends most of its time stuck on the freeway 2 hours a day.

Tires first. The factory stuff is about a soft as ya can get. Springs will firm up the front a bit. New shocks will control the springs better by providing better bounce control.

I have a 2003 limited with stock suspension, some MICHELIN LTX tires --- and my ride is SOOO smooth. Sure, they dont't look that bad ass - but the previous owner had just put these on when I bought the truck -- so I am "stuck" with them for a while.
I couldn't believe how smooth the ride was when I took this one for a test drive -
