I Want A Trail Edition Hood

It's only really bad in the evening or morning. it's low enough that I usually just throw something on the dash (towel, jacket..) to block it when it gets bad like that. blocking that glare with something has no effect on visibility since I can't see through the hood anyways. I've wondered if a clear matte application of plastidip would be unobtrusive and effective enough to fix the issue without changing the appearance.

Your lack of experiencing it does not negate others experience. For all I know you commute from east or south of where you work so never deal with evening sun or morning sun in front of you.

Wow... sorry you took my statement the wrong way. Its nothing personal. I never said anything about discounting, or negating, anyone else's claims of glare. I believe there are plenty of people out there with this issue. I personally haven't experienced the distracting glare that others have talked about. Maybe it is because I wear sunglasses pretty all the time the sun is up. Or maybe it is in the elevation or angle in how I sit in my seat. Who knows. I was simply stating another opinion.

Got mine at the paint shop right now...

For anyone who has a CertiFit body parts store close by, I was able to pick up the hood locally for about $145 (saved the $150 shipping charge the online source wanted).

Sourced the scoop guts from my local dealership. They worked out to about $50 more than the suntoyota.com site, though.

I dropped off the hood with a local paint shop this afternoon. Anticipate possibly having the hood back on Friday. Plastic scoop bits won't arrive before Monday, though.

you can also buy one, and have it color matched.

as much as I love the air dam, man, is it a pain in the rear with the sun glare at times..

The one thing I would warn people of (from experience restoring cars) with a lot of these cheaper after-market body parts is many of them come from China and are complete and utter shit.

They often don't fit right, have damage from the long boat ride and have waves in the panels from cheap stamping forms and poor metal quality.

Caveat Emptor ladies and gentlemen. You might get lucky, you might not.

Personally if I was going to put a TE hood on my $30K+ SR5, I'd spend the $$$ for OEM Toyota quality. ;-)

Yep! You are spot on. Hood came in. Waited to open until I got to buddies paint shop. Opened her up to see dents & damage everywhere. Another $200 will just get me OEM....

Yeah. The Made In China stuff is just not worth the hassle to save a few bucks IMO. I would either find a rear-end wrecked with a nice factory hood or eat the cost and order Toyota OEM were I looking to replace a 4Runner hood.

I mean if the vehicle is a POS and you don't car about fit an quality, then maybe, but if you are upgrading a late model pristine T4R and spending the bucks for quality paint and such, it's false economy to go with a piss poor aftermarket junk body part.
