That truck is Aussie as f***. They are pretty ugly though. The only gen I liked was sold here as the 1st gen Runner.
 
No interior photos makes me wonder. Also, how did he get that thing in the states? Special permission I'm assuming.

I had the exact same thoughts. I've never seen a Hilux stateside. I've seen them over in Europe, and personally I have to say that us getting the Tacoma is good. Both the first and second gen look much better than the Hilux equivalent. Now if we could just get all the engine options they get in the Hilux elsewhere.
 
I have a feeling it is a south america truck. The swapping of sell for 'sale' is a pretty dead give away that he can't speak da english so good. lol

By that rationale, most of southern Utah is south american. I see all kinds of good ole boys making that particular error in grammar.

I always assume it is a hispanic issue since that is what it is up here. Lots of central american people live up here because of all the farms.

Also never said it was in south america lol I meant the guy who was selling it was from there along with the truck.... people move..

I bought my HiLux from a Toyota dealer...in São Paulo, Brasil. Nowhere does it say the dealer was in the US.

Could be returning US government or military, if they got emissions certification. Such cars can be resold.

Seller now updated the ad with interior pictures.
Notice the manual cruise control by the left knee on the dash. You got to turn it to keep the throttle open and yes, if you hit brakes and RPM will still be high!

Like I assumed, it got the famous 3 L engine. Also the model is called LN 166.

Being the ad is from Texas I'd put my bets on the truck is from Mexico.

I believe you can get special permission to have the trucks imported here if you have the money. Question is, why would you want a Hulux when you can have a Tacoma for a bit more? One would argue the Hilux box frame would be worth the trouble of getting one into the U.S. Also the Hilux still has the manual 4WD controls and this is a plus for many.

lastly, the diesel...
 
$15k for a truck with a shitty gutless indirect injection diesel that gets to 60 in roughly an hour? That diesel doesn't even have a turbo if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure they suffer from cracked heads often too.

The people I see making those kinds of mistakes consistently are often born and raised here. Take a look at some of the posts around here, they can be just fantastic.
