I want to take my doors off but i need a mirror

In the state of maryland you have to have a mirror on your drivers side to make it legal to take your doors off of your vehicle. What should I do? I have been looking for replacements to use, fabricating my own. What I want is something I can take off when the normal doors are on and when they are off put the mirror back on easily. Help Please. Oh yeah i have a 89 toyota 4runner with the 22-RE-C

I see fabrication in your near future, maybe try a junk yard for old doors, and just cut frames out, it would look cool, and be functional, it would hold the mirror, you wouldn't see the door jams.

When my grandfather would tow his trailer he had mirrors that would clip on to the sides of his vehicle. One arm would clip in between the hood and top of quarter panel and the other would clip onto the bottom of the quarter panel above the tire. They made different size arms depending on how far you need them to stick out to see behind you. I don't know a brand name, but I know they make. I have seen trucks recently with them. Might be a better staring point vs. fabing something up from scratch. Good luck

If you dont want any doors at all, you could probably mount an aftermarket RV set on the A pillar(i think thats the one). Have you ever thought of half-doors? Either full fiberglass or tube, similar to wranglers. You could jump out easily and also have mounting points for mirrors. Good luck!!

You need a drivers side mirror in any state.
And running without doors will attract attention to the fact that you don't have one.
You can get any generic mirror and mount it on the A pillar or even the front fender.

I am thinking I am going to mount the mirror on my A piller and then make some tube doors. I just didnt know if anyone had any ideas that would be good. Does anyone know if that counts as having a door?

I live in Virginia, we too are required to have at least 1 outside rearview mirror, I took my doors off last year and utilized the old style trailer mirrors that were mentioned earlier, but rather than use the arms that clip over the fenders, I took them apart and screwed the mirror portion to the door hinges. this permitted the adjustment of the mirror and compliance with the law.
or just pick up a motorcycle mirror from ebay and mount it.

But considering it's more than doorless Jeep Wranglers have, it's in your favor.
