I was hoping someone could help me with some info on my existing lift

I bought my 4runner in 2013, already lifted. That day I checked the springs and saw the rear had an OME 890 sticker on it. Looked up that it was a 3" lift. Left my curiosity there. Recently it hit me that my front fender gap looks smaller than the rear. Did some measurements and sure enough the difference of measure from the ground to the fender is ~1 1/2". So here is what I know

Front coils-??
Front shocks-90004 imprinted on the shock
rear coils-ome 890
rear shocks-n86 near the 'old man emu' imprinting

Also does not appear to have any extras Ive read go with lifts-diff drop, panhard drop

Now basically what I'm asking is, what springs in the front I may have and if this whole system is enough to support new plate bumpers in the future. I know the lift has been on at least 7 years before I owned it because he had invoices for tires from at least 2006 that require a lift to fit. Thats 10 years on these shocks. Do they lose effectiveness in that amount of time?

If it is fine should I get a spacer for the front coils, or was it lifted with a rake for a reason?

I've yet to take it off road but would like to in the future, but it would be very light duty

Heres a pic from a couple years ago when I put new wheels on for a visual

I like the height so I wouldn't want to lose much with heavier bumpers.

thanks in advance

Post a pic of your front setup. I would guess the front is OME 881's with Nitro charger Sport struts. Old man emu shocks wear out just like any other brand so it may be time for new ones. How many miles on them over that timeframe? If you want to add a bumper/winch it would be a good idea to freshen up for front suspension. The rake was probably done on purpose so when it was loaded it would sit level. That's what I did with my rig. I don't want bro lean when loadednwith gear. :D

It sits completely perfect, IMO. Maybe even a hair low in the rear- if you like to account for some sag when you have passengers or a load.
You mention the front is ~1 1/2" lower- were you wanting it to be higher to "match" the rear?
Depending on the plate bumpers/winch you go with, it would cause a little sag. The spring rates have a big impact on how much it would sag, so finding out what spring you have is helpful.
Get under the front end, take some Simple Green or window cleaner to the coils, and clean them up real well. Look as well as you can on all sides of the coil- there is likely some kind of marking on them.
Also, pictures of coils and shocks may be helpful.

Many don't like the rake, but going higher in the front does two things.

1) Puts components at bad angles
2) Greatly reduces what little drop you have in suspension.

For these two reason I've left my truck with rake.

the hair low in the rear may be from the tow hitch I forgot to mention is on there that came with it, but there also is no spare tire underneath so that might negate the difference anyways

I was looking at the shrockworks bumpers and a rear bumper with a spare tire swingout

I did manage to find a salvageable sticker on the front coils and they are 881s

You could put a small top plate spacer on the front if you want a little more lift. I have a 3/8 spacer on mine and it sits at about 2 and 1/4 inches of lift in the front. I have about 1 and 1/4 inches of rake on my Runner unloaded. I have the OME 890's in the rear and Ironman 4x4 Medium springs (similar to an OME 881) in front. If you want to add a front bumper you may want to get a taller or heavier duty spring in the front.

ok cool. So then I'd look at something like the 883s or another brand equivalent to support a front bumper and at that time it wouldn't hurt to replace shocks all around and refresh/upgrade the setup?

You don't really "need" to replace the shocks unless they are leaking or bouncy/sloppy. I'd say get new coils and it's debatable as far as if you need to replace the shocks and struts. You can try "bouncing" the front and rear of your rig. That way you can tell if your shocks are shot. Springs will sag, shocks lose their dampening ability when they wear out.

I'm a fan of this. I have quite a bit of rake on my lift, but when I load it up with gear and people for trips it eats it up pretty quick. I'd like the front a bit higher just for looks, but the cv, and control arm angle is great and it performs well offroad.

You most likely have 881 coils on OME sport comfort shocks. Get a front 1" spacer kit. I run bumper and winch ov this setup. Not the best but functional

The rake is real nice when your rig gets loaded down with gear and people. It will keep it from sagging. I think its a great look, even with the rake!

Yea, I found a sticker for 881s on the front. As long as they will be fine holding the weight of a front bumper without any sag, or sag than can be fixed with the spacer. The rear I'm not too worried about because I can stand on the back without any real drop and I'm 200 lbs

Ok so I recently put on the cbi front bumper. Do the 883s just compensate and bring the height back up or is there more to them for weight support?
