If you look at the Busa's HP curve you will see that it makes 5 to 10 HP more then the 12 up until it peaks at approx 8500 rpm which is directly proportional to the approx 10lb.-ft. of torque, which peaks at approx 7000 rpm. This is a result of 100 more CCs, a small bore & long stroke (81mm X 63mm) engine.

Now look at the 12, the HP curve shows that because of its design/tune it sacrificed HP & torque in the low and mid rpm range for high rpm HP & torque. Where the Busa

I could run your 4Runner (in a 1/4 mile) with only first gear on my 12. I get 90mph out of first and 0-60 times in 2.6 sec. The problem is keeping it on the ground. I once raced (roll-on from 70 to about 130mph) a big block V8 (over 500 ci) Boss Hoss and spanked his ass.

You probably didn't understand what I was saying. Hook a 4000lb trailer to both the 4R and the bike. The bike will have a hard time moving it, let alone race a 4R. (I smell burning of lots of rubber on the bike ;) )

My point is there is very little comparison on lightweight vehicles like bikes and heavy SUVs with heavy trailers. On light vehicles weaknesses in the TQ curve can be hidden, but not when you try to move 9000lb to 10000lb up a hill. Every weakness in your TQ curve and gearing will be exposed then. As the X5 found out.

Back to topic still, I think an 05+ 4R V8 vs 05+ X5 V8, the cards might be turned. The new X5 has a 6 spd box and the Valvetronic engine has a pretty solid TQ curve. The older X5 was not nearly as strong. I test drove the new X5 and it hauled serious ass, and was very strong in every situation. It would leave my 4R way behind in the dust. Still got the GX in the end though :D (FWIW the GX (05) feels quite a bit more peppy than my 03 V8 4R, guess the VVTi makes quite a bit of difference in spirited driving)

About "dinosaurs", wasn't the 1995 GPZ1100 engine just a re-tuned 1994 ZX-11 engine? Sure the chassis sucked for road racing, but it was capable of some insane 60 ft. times.

I was pretty excited about news of the 14, then I saw the pictures. :( I'd much rather have a lighter restyled 12R but it looks like that will never happen... :( :(

I was referring to the original GPZ 1100 from the 80s, air cooled 2 valved 1089cc engine. The one you were referring to was a completely different GPZ. In 1995 Kawasaki brought back the name and stuck a de-tuned ZX11 engine in it. It was intended as a sport-tour that didn't have the ram-air, smaller intake and exhaust numbers. I forgot all about that version, they only make it from 95 to 97.

The ZX14 is intended to be the fastest motorcycle on the planet today, not a road-racer. They have the ZX10R (which is BADASS) to fill those shoes. When land speed racing and street riding you need some weight for stability. A 470 lb. bike is perfect for that. You have to see the ZX14 up close, it looks better in person.

Koz, glad to see another Kawi guy

I'm rolling a ZX-6R at the moment, but I'm probably going to buy a 10 when I get back, probalby an 05 because I'm just not digging the new look of the 06.

160 whp on the 10 is enough for me, if it isn't, I'll buy one of the three bolt on turbo kits for it:)

Here's a bad pic of my current bike:

I'd like something between the 10R and the 14R, something that weighs about what my 9R does and offers balanced performance with some comfort. My styling preferences are stuck in the mid to late 90's though, as most of the new bikes look a little too rad for me.

By the way, you seem to have an insatiable appetite for monster speed. I'm just curious... If you don't mind telling, what does your driving record look like? :zoom:

If you're going to get the 10, get the 06. It looks the same but they made major design improvements, almost a complete re-redesign. The biggest improvement was to refine the power delivery, all new fuel delivery and added weight to the flywheel to smooth it out. They also got rid of that silly LED tachometer. There are many other changes. Take a good look before getting a 05.

The bike for you is this.

As far as my driving record; I haven't had any points for over 10 years. I pick the time and place to deviate (speed). I also have over 25 years of experience deviating (radar helps) and never do anything other then speed in a safe place (open highways).
