The truck rides incredibly smoother now compared to the tokicos and ome set up I had before in the front. The old setup didn't have the right rebound to counter act the preload in the suspension. And now you can defiantly feel it in the way the truck drives. It seems like the rear shocks are trying to keep up with the Icons.

if i knew the Icons rode this good i would have never settled with the omes that were on the truck when i bought it. As alot of people state ARB/ OME never had a proper setup for the US Spec 4runners the springs we use from OME were based of the Toyota Prado which is heavier than our vehicles so the ride is much harsh regardless of what shock you use with it. keep in mind i am still going to be using 906 OME coils in the rear on my truck but they should have much better dampening with the icon shocks.

the omes/tokicos i rate at 4 out of 10
they just work and get the job done.



the icons i rate 10+ out of 10 they honestly exceeded my expectations. took away my tippy felling that i had with the omes they were harsh and stiff and not controlled smooth and firm. they are worth every penny i paid for them. there is a good reason they cost what they cost not just because of adjustability factors but because of the valving being matched to suit the vehicle. anyone can throw a suspension sent together and say it works, but few can make a suspension system work correctly and smoothly like it was meant to be.
 
I'm not sure if its the same as anyone else but my Icons actually feel pretty stiff. The ride is pretty controlled but it feels similar to riding in a lowered car. I have it set at factory settings too. Although mine being a base model the install raised the truck like 3.5" from factory so that might be why?
 
I am probably going to buy these in the coming weeks, still trying to decide if I want to go with an SS 1.2 or these and peice my rear. I appreciate your update with your feelings on the ride.

Now I don't give a crap what you do with your truck, but it looks like you've never taken that thing on dirt...unless you scrub the inner fender wells :) But, if you have, I'd like to know your 1-10 rate compared to the OME's offroad.

Have you taken a ride in a 4runner with an all OME set up for comparison? I read several people say that the OME springs suck when not matched with the OME shocks. I don't doubt the Icons are are going to be better regardless, but wonder where the OME/OME set up would fall in the rating.

Hey Brandon,

i actually have rode on a friends from up north for a comparison but it is a bit more bouncy than firm and smooth. i think it has alot to do with the spring rate on the coilovers and the dampening.
 
One thing i did want to add to this in regards to the OME set up. Everything i have read from OME rates the springs by weight not lift height (some shops quote lift height but not OME). So if you use the springs as a lift spring, you are essentially using them out of their intended weight range. This is where the spring rate vs vehicle weight of both would be handy to have in comparison. I'm sure the shock itself is still the biggest difference here though.

i have not taken it offroad recently but when i do it gets pretty dirty. and i do clean my wheel wells and undercarriage when i com back from wheeling with friends.
 
well after a month of waiting i finally received the rear shocks. i cant wait to see how they do.

$1000 + . They were more expensive at the shops that I have seen them in. I could have called up a friend but didn't want to deal with trying to pull a deal.
