Icon Lift Questions...

Hello All,

I own a 3rd Gen 4Runner and have 58610 on the front and 57800P on the rear. Great setup! I just bought a 4th gen 4Runner and foresee this rig as more of a Family overlander vehicle then the 3rd gen. If I want to hit the dirt need to make it comfortable for the family Pretty sure my front Coilovers wont transfer over but the Rears look very similar. Even the number are similar 57800P vs 57810P. Would 57800P fit on my 4th Gen 4Runner or are they different in some way? If they wont fit going to get the 56505 2.0 shocks most likely to save some $$$. How are these shocks compared to the 5100 or 2.5 Icons? Going to put 2" Icon springs on the 4th if I go with a Icon setup. Tire size filament between the 2" vs 3" springs?

I did the heavy duty springs with my Icon setup. It's stiff for DD, but when I've got back seat passengers, or am towing it's perfect. In retrospect, the standard duty with air bags for towing might have been better, but not sure. Don't know that this Helps your decision.

What springs to you have?

I really depends on your application, how you intend on loading it, and what types of accessories you might add...

Pick the spring rate (not the brand) that's right for you... The ICON 2" from what I understand is only about 10% stiffer than stock...

If you need more load carrying for passenger, overland style build with armor/bumper/gear or occasional towing you can look at something like the 2" OME 2895 for 400lb/medium or less load at all times.

I am running that spring and its great when its loaded, but once I make camp, unload, and then take the rig out to play... I have found the rear to be a bit a bit stiff and buck a bit on higher speed off-road driving... that said, in the city it feels great and when loaded and on the freeway the truck feels stable with sway under control.

Regarding the shocks... if you cant make it fit, sell it and buy something that does. If you can afford a 2.5, I would get it... it really is that much better.

What springs to you have?

Turns out I've got the 2" springs from Icon. I think with the HD spring issue, I was thinking back to when I was considering the ToyTech lift, which has an HD option.

All that said, the 2" springs are a little stiff on Wisconsin roads with all the frost heaving and pot holes we have here when riding alone. When loaded or towing, the ride soothes out. Icon's site indicates similar for the 3" springs.

I should also say, the Icon kit, with the improved sway bar links from [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] has made my 2007v8 Limited corner extremely well for what it is. It's not a sports car of course, but for a lifted mid size SUV with a solid rear, I can pass in a round about.
