Icon Shift Knob

[RPC]

I saw someone mention Icon's shift knob as a decent interior accessory so I ordered one to try it out. Great looking piece, obviously well made, only problem is that it didn't "fit" my vehicle the way it did in the picture on Icon's website. I don't know what year the vehicle in their pic is, if that even is the reason for the difference, but the knob looked like crap on my shifter post.

See how my shift post narrows in the middle and shows below the knob? Don't know why the difference but the center console in their picture looks different than mine so maybe theirs is in an older model. Either way, it's going back.

Anyway, just wanted to put this out there so someone else might save themselves the trouble.

Then why market it to 4Runner owners? Ah, whatever.

I like the knob so much I considered trying to swap the shifter post, but that sounds like a lot of work (& $?) for a take it or leave it piece.

Well shit, while we're on the matter: Does anyone know if I could swap my shifter post for one that would match the one in Icon's pic?

The OEM leather shift knob in my 4Runner looks identical to the one in my Tacoma. I didn't know the 4Runner's shifter stem has the taper.

I don't think you can buy just the shifter stem. You'll most likely need the entire shifter switch assembly from the Tacoma for the swap (if it's even possible to switch out).

Damn. Well, if anyone comes across a great knob, let me know. I've been driving manuals my whole life, right up to this vehicle actually, and that right hand just ends up on the shifter every time. Might as well have one that fits great in this paw.

Wait it doesn't just screw on/off? my friends taco has a raszo or something like that aftermarket shift nob.

Yeah Skyline, the stock one screws off and the aftermarket one screws right back on in its place. The Icon one was shorter though and left the bottom third of taper exposed.

Funny thing is that I was cruising the Vendor Area in Toyota120 and saw this one:

Looks kinda huge but maybe I'll give it a whirl- what've I go to lose?!
