ICON suspension setup

Does anyone have any experience with the ICON suspension sytem? Here's a link . Everyone is always talking about the OME or the Toytec and I've heard little about the Icon. How is it compared to the Toytec and OME?

i wanted a "higher end" coil over set up on my runner and went with sway a way coils. i heard some things about icons leaking but cannot confirm from from experience. i have also heard that they are a quality product. if i hadn't gone with saw i would have gotten icon.

I actually went wheel'n with Doug, the owner of Toytec, and several other guys this weekend. I was picking his brain about everything he carries. He is obviously a little biased towards the Toytec stuff, but had good input on all of the stuff they carry. He said the Icon stuff is great and fits it's application well (desert racing) and provides a good on and off road road ride. However, he said that because they are rebuildable, he sees them come back after about 2 or 3 years needing a rebuild. Not to mention the Icon stuff is pricey. Doug said the OME stuff is good as well, but you are stuck with one ride height. The Toytec coilovers are nice because they are adjustable (as are the Icon's) but are at a better price point. They use Bilstein shocks with their coils so you're getting a great product. I probably won't do a lift until later in the summer but I am definitely leaning towards the Toytec ultimate setup.

Not to mention, I saw Doug's rig and several others in action running the Toytec setup this past weekend first hand and was very impressed! With the exception of the LC in these pics who was running OME, I think the rest of the rigs were running Toytec coilovers, except for me who just has a Toytec 1" leveling kit.

With most shocks, once they go bad (i.e. start leaking, loose their pressure/resistance, etc.) your only option is to throw them away and get new ones. With rebuildable shocks, you can take them apart and put in new seals, gaskets, recharge them with gas, etc. This usually has to be done at a qualified shop or the manufacturer. While it may be less expensive to rebuild the shocks rather than having them replaced, it can still be expensive and a hassle to be without shocks for an extended period of time. Some see the shocks being rebuildable as an advantage, while others think it can be a disadvantage (Bilsteins have lifetime warranties I believe).

I have this kit in my truck with the addition of the icon billet upper control arms.Its a high quality system,Like mentioned they are pricey.I considered them a investment in my suspension.They are re-buildable so you wont be throwing them away when they go out.Tip- if you decide to do any coil over,Is keep your stock suspension as back up if the coil overs ever need service.So you have a ride if its your DD.Ride quality is firm not harsh,Depending how much preload is set in the c/o's.The ride is night and day compared to stock.Not trying to convince you to spend $2000 plus on your suspension,People I know have spent double even triple that amount.It breaks down to what you want to do with your rig.:cheers:

What are you trying to figure out? Maybe then I can be more specific. Are you trying to find out which is best? Trying to justify spending the extra $$ on Icon over the others?

If you let us know the direction you are taking your truck, I can better help you. Will you be adding things like a bumper, winch, dual battery, or any other large weight factors? Do you want it to ride good on the streets, or while off-road?

An Answer for my new rig is yes, I am looking to install front bumper w/ winch and rear bumper w/ tire rack. So is the ICON worth the $$?
