ICON UCA bearing found to be loose

Good day everyone!

It has been a while since I have posted a question on the forums as most questions are answered via google :) and previous threads.

My issue happened today during my vehicle inspection. Everything was going well until they started to use a machine that moves the front tires left and right a little. Something caught their attention, then they lifted the front end up a little so they can wiggle the wheel and continue to inspect both sides.

They concluded that my vehicle failed for 2 reasons. First, was because i removed the backup hood latch to install the staoshi grill. Second, was them stating my bearings in my UCA's were too loose. History on the UCA's are they were installed 4 years ago and have been exposed to grit and grime causing them to squeak forcing me to apply grease to them every 4-6 months.

Anyone on the forum feel i should replace my ICON uniball bearings or is there anyway i could fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

James

I would check it myself to be SURE that's what the problem was but, yeah after 4 years, it sounds like "normal maintenance" to replace them at this point. Unfortunately while the driving/off-roading performance of after-market suspensions is great, they to require sometimes more maintenance than stock parts.

My UCAs have started squeaking as well. I removed the upper caps recently and cleaned it out and sprayed silicone in there and sealed them back up. Squeak gone for now, but I know I'll be replacing my upper ball joints at around 4 years if not sooner with all the off-roading I've been doing.

The silicone is decent, (Needs to be a "dry" type lube, not regular grease or oil) but I may try getting some of this for future uses:
