Icon UCA Noise (Now UCA Bushing Troubleshooting)

Kind of a pain cause you need two grease guns to service the truck, but I'd rather not worry about poisoning the bushings rather than servicing them.
Just make sure you loosen the through bolt prior to greasing, let the shop know this as well.

technically 3 guns: Toyota specs moly grease for the driveshaft slip yokes.

i’m curious, what specific product did you use that torpedoed your bushings in 6 weeks?

ooooohhhhh... now i understand why your UCA bushings were destroyed — that's moly grease! it's spec'd for metal-to-metal sliding contact; as Toyota does for the driveshaft slip yokes (and i mentioned above).

i suspect your bushings would have been absolutely A-OK with a regular (no moly) NLGI grease; as Toyota specs for your u-joints (and as ICON advised me directly).

it's not a case of "petroleum-based" at all — it's the moly additive that is wholly inappropriate for the application of the UCA bushings.
