Icon VS sway away coils.

I think I’ve settled on icon coilovers and running them at 2.5” of lift. I think if I get the icon 2” rear coils it will be too high in the rear, so I’m thinking of getting the sway away 1.5” coils. I’ve heard some coils give different results from what they say you should get, so what is everyone’s experience with these? Am I making the right choice?

My SAW 1.5” were definitely more like 2” right after installation, they have settled nicely though and the ride is great, especially with some gear in the back. No complaints.

It’s hard to say without knowing your intentions, such as how much gear you’re looking to carry, if you’re going for a particular stance, etc. Share some details and you’ll get much more specific responses.

I have the SAW's also along with Kings. No complaints. They've settle to 1.75.

It’s going to be my wife’s daily driver, with the occasional Offroad/camping trip. So mostly unloaded. It’s getting sliders, aluminum skids and maybe an aluminum rack. I wouldn’t mind keeping a small rake on it, but the factory rake is too much.. maybe 1” higher in the rear.

It does have 3rd row seats, but I don’t think they’d affect it too much.

Here’s a fresh pair of saw 1.5”. 3rd row seating as well. I’m impressed so far. They finally settled.

I started with SAW rear coils, they were very nice and got under 2”, which worked well with the 2.5”I had up front. Rode great until I added the rear bumper.

I just checked out your build thread. Nice truck, and great write up!

I installed the SAW 1.5" coils about 4 years ago and they lifted it just a hair over 2" and they have only settled about .25". We use the 5th gen quite a bit and the load always varies. Overall, they held up great. I now have the front set at 3" of lift and wish the rear coils were just .5-.75" taller.

Nope. Got the 1.5" but they were initially closer to 2" once installed.

Thx. Preload is only at 5/8 of an inch. Looking to raise it ever so slightly, maybe 2-3 turns of the collar, in the coming weeks.

Nice work, good looking setup.

I really like a conservative lift sometimes when there is a chance of a lot of street driving because the performance is generally better all around.

I had SAW 1.5" rear coils. As many mentioned above, they were about 2" when installed but mine settled to 1.5" after a while. Rode great. However if you plan on putting any kind of gear back there, it will sag. A LOT! I have since installed Icons with the 2" rear springs. Love it. Holds load good too.

I've had both.
SAW's rode nicer while unloaded, but squatted too much loaded.
I run the Icons now with the ET coil overs upfront dialed to give 1 inch forward rake. Love it! Actually just got back from a 2 day trip to the Sierras and this set up continues to impress.

Yes I did. Was about 3" when installed. Settled at 2"
