ICON worth it??

running icon on my black 03 and OME on my silver 03. Icon is a much nicer ride at lower speeds and over larger bumps, however i cannot honestly say that I think the Icon is worth the huge price difference. if you were in this area I would let you drive both to see for your self. NOTE: if you have a winch bumper and a winch, you have to crank the Icon up so tight that there is little to no difference between it and the OME....Mine are about the same (icon vs. ome)since I added the winch and heavy bumper about 3 months ago. But the icon has been pushed pretty hard and still holds up well.

Well I'm about to find out putting ome springs on my 4runner and I have walker Evans on my fj. The walkers come with 600lb spring rate in te front I know you can get 700's with other companys

Hey Javelin any updates? Did you go with the ICON lift? What stage? I was jut interested in a spacer lift when you started this thread but now I'm thinking just to get it done now rather than wait. I'm torn between the remote resi's and the regular coilovers. Once the lift and tires go on, there will be mud. The only reason I'm not doing it now is because I lack the tools. SO that nulls the question how much do I offroad now. The intent is there, and skipping the spacer lift. Good luck finding the $700 ICON tubular UCAs, the only ones I can find are the $1200 ICON billet UCAs
So far I have found 3 places with great prices on ICON parts. Metal Tech being the cheapest, Toytec (plus discount code), and Wheeler's Offroad (no sales tax and free shipping on big ticket items)

Well my biggest concern is that the icon setup wont be as high as the OME, because they don't offer stiff springs like OME. If I were to pull the trigger on the ICONS I would do at least stage 4, beacuse I want the oil reservoir shocks.
Since my coils are so stiff for my added weight I feel that the Remote Reservoir shocks may not work well with the OMEs
Would I be able to keep my OME setup in the Rear and do ICONS up front? Icon doesn't make a rear resevoir shock so It would be pointless to replace my OME rear shock with an ICON Right?

I know the radflow/overlandwarehouse you could pick what weight springs you wanted also that's what makes a coilovers special. The ability to crank it more for the added weight. Correct me if I'm wrong isn't a piggyback shock the same as a reservoir shock?

The OME 886 coils are 655 lbs and I think the Icons are 650. I'm not sure of the overall height of the coil on the Icons, but if you have to preload it to achieve the height it's going to be harsher.

I can't say anything about the OME but I love my (wife's) Icon set up. I also wanted to get the remote resi but saved the money and didn't buy the stage setup. I bought the front remote resi's and rear piggybacks. Then Total Chaos UCA and All Pro rear springs. Saved several thousand over buying the Stage 4 or 5 and It is awesome. You have to decide if you really need the billet UCA's and Rear Links. Don't get them and if you need them later then upgrade. I think the Icon pieces are some of the best out there. And they are good for life since you can rebuild them.

I have Icon 2.5 resi's and I love them. Im running them with the S/W front bumper and Warn 9.5xp winch. The only issue that you might want to consider is with the weight of the bumper and winch you will be at the upper limits of spring preload in order to be at 3.5" of lift.
You should seriously consider the Overland Warehouse 2.5 Radflo Coilover. It's specifically designed and valved for 4runners with aftermarket bumpers. The heavier rate springs will not need as much preload with the weight of the bumper (little or no preload at all with stock bumper). OW is a site supporter here on t4r and over on 120. Just shoot Mark@overlandwarehouse or Bulldog over on 120 a PM.

I'm leaning on ICON myself but if I had the S/W or ARB bumpers I'd probably take all the guess work out of it and go Overland Warehouse.

wow, I just checked out icons website and damn, I don't see how a 5400 dollar kit (stage 6) could be worth it. I have icon rear shocks (paired with superflex springs), and to be honest the back end used to jump all over the place until I started keeping about 100 of gear in the back.
