Ideas for a day trip NORCAL?

Looking to take the family out for a trip this weekend. I know Downpour11 (Rob) is down for something.

Idk man, 4.5-5 hrs each way isn't a day trip for me. I wish I lived closer to Tahoe

Sorry guys. I didn't see any of the replies in time. We were on the road by 8am Friday. Not much of a wheeling trip. It was more of and experimental "how will our 1yr old do camping?" She did fine. The weather was great at 6000ft, 70 all day and 50s at night. The wife was scared of bears. We didn't see anything but chipmunks.

Original plan was Bowman Lake or any of the surrounding lakes. Bowman was packed, as was Sawmill so we attempted Faucherie Lake but there just aren't any camping spots there. So we nailed a spot on the creek that flows from Faucherie to Sawmill. Nice place. Tons of open space, fire pit, swimming, kid friendly and shady.

Quickest/easiest way up there in Bowman lake road. From HWY20 to Faucherie it took 1.5hrs. The road is rough but accessible by Honda Civics. I air'd down to 10 just to make the ride smoother. Good to be home!

Great place to camp, you got lucky nobody was in that spot yet, usually taken every time when I go there.

I usually do the Caples creek spot every summer, around the bend where you went.
Will be there next month, kids and all. I'll let you know.
