Ideas for a shorter antenna?

Ok I thought the whole mast antenna thing was no big deal until I tried to put my new Silver Limited 4WD into my garage (older house, small garage) ...

The antenna is too tall and slaps the garage door as I pull in. Anyone know of an easy, shorter replacement for the mast? I don't listen to the radio much, so I may just take it out altogether.

that's the website where mike got that picture from. it doesn't fit a honda car right out of the box, so i'd be interested in whether or not it would fit a 4runner straight out of the box without modifications. if you do end up doing that, let me know how it works because i too don't like the antenna.

i have no idea, so someone correct me if i'm completely wrong, but i was thinking since the fjc has a mast antenna too, perhaps you could order a shorter one for the fjc and put it on your 4runner. i was thinking this may work better since both the fjc and 4runner are similar

anyways, let me know what you do, i want to swap the antenna too

I used to own a 2001 Toyota Celica GT-S and the S2000 antennae fits perfectly. I don't own a 5th gen but he can always try if he chooses too. And if it don't fit, he can always return it to the Honda dealership.

I bought a 10" black rubber antenna from auto zone for $5 bucks. Looks and works great also is a perfect fit. Comes with multiple adaptors. Have had this same antenna on several vehicles and have had no problems.

... and I still have the same S2000 antenna, now installed on a third vehicle, my new 2010 4R Limited.

I haven't been on this forum for almost six years, so imagine my surprise at seeing the pics of my old van and the reference to the old OdyClub site. I retired from there when I got my 4th gen Limited and hung around here a while after that until I kinda drifted away. Anyway, Hi, everybody! it's good to be back!

I tried the auto zone antenna on my previous 07 Tundra and it failed the drive thru car was miserable. Totally ripped it from the truck. I anticipate it will be the same for the 4Runner. The S2000 has possibilities but I'm thinking a shorter mast antenna would look more proportionate to the 4Runner.

x2 on the S2000 antenna.

I think on Club Lexus or MY IS...they have an antenna even smaller than S2000.

It's like 2" long.

i bpught a cheap universal one from advanced, it was about $7 and it sucks, on the highway it bends about 40 degrees back. The S2000 one looks much better

I know a couple years back alot of Tacoma owners were getting antennas from here. There is not a specific one listed for a 4Runner but I bet either the Tacoma or Tundra antennas will work. Worth a look.
