Ideas for a shorter antenna?

I just ordered the Mangowalk antenna last night - So, I am curious as well! Did it just screw right on?

I'm in a large metro area and don't use AM or Fm much, so I can't really tell you, though I've never noticed any difference when I was using those modes.

no modifications necessary. they include 4 or 5 different sized mounting studs to fit a wide range of antenna base applications. just screws on from there.

Hey all I just received my mangowalk stubby and it will need to be modified to fit much like the S2k antenna. It came with 4 different sized mounting studs and none of them are long enough. So Im headed to the drawing board lol

Yes it will need a mod of some sort. The threaded stud just isn't long enough. here is a pic of the factory mast and the length of the stud that comes with the stubby.

The problem is the stud is a different diameter on each end and a new stud would have to be made. The stud on the left is the one that would fit if it were longer.

This is the reply that I got back from Mangowalk when I sent them a message this evening about the length of the stud being too short for the T4R replacement antenna. I had ordered the 5" antenna (most of you have ordered the 3" one, I think) and it should arrive tomorrow. I had hoped that they might be able to supply a longer stud, if mine was not long enough!

I don't believe that fins actually ever attached the antenna to his 4R I think he just had one already on his BMW and set it on his 4R to show us what it would look like. I cant speak for everyone but when I ordered the Mangowalk antenna I knew it was unknown if it would screw in straight out of the box or need some modification.

I just received and installed the 3 inch Mangowalk stubby. Haven't tried it out for reception, yet, but installation is about the same as for the Honda S2000.
I almost ran into trouble, though. When I removed the S2000, the adapted thread piece was rusted into the base mount after just two months! I finally did get it out without damage to anything, but it was a close call. Failure would have meant replacing the antenna base, which probably wouldn't have been either cheap or easy, as most antenna lead wires are one piece with the mount and require plugging straight into the head unit.
Anyway, my reason for the note is to inform anyone who has installed one of these antennas to liberally apply some waterproof lube into the base threads to prevent this.
PS: I haven't decided which antenna I like best, yet. The shorter one is gonna take a little getting used to.

Hey, sorry guys. Just getting time to get on the forum. I received mine today. None of the studs would even screw into the base. ckon, were you able to screw yours in? I believe once it's in and tightened we wouldn't have any worries. I just can't get the stud to screw in.
NikitaVelour is correct, I just laid my BMW antenna on our base because I didn't have the correct stud to fully test fit.
I'm sorry, folks, but I may heve led you all to a wild goose chase. If only the supplied studs fit. Awaiting on ckon's reply...

No, I just took the adapted hardware off the S2000 antenna when I made the switch. The same problems with mounting the S2k exist with the 3" stubby and require the same modifications.
