IDK what to do for my suspension HELP

So I just bought a 1999 4Runner and it needs some suspension work. I found a 16 Piece kit on 1AAuto. It's from TRQ. I'm just concerned because it's $358.95 and that seems really cheap. Is that just because it's an OE replacement and not a lift?

If you recommend against this what would you recommend for a near OE replacement of shocks struts and coils? I don't want to lift it right now cause it's just not in my budget. I'd be willing to lift a bit if it's affordable no more than 1.5" though.

I would buy LBJs only from oem heres the part numbers
RH LBJ: 43330-39585
LH LBJ: 43340-39465
4 bolts for each side of LBJ (8 total): 90080-10066

as for the rest, what are your intentions with the car?

Yeah I would avoid that. Stick with oem for the ball joints but for suspension you have so many options. I just went with ome rear coils and reused the factory fronts. went bilstien 5100 all around which have me about 2" lift. That cost me like $550 shipped? The front is a little springy since the factory coil is so compressed so Id prob just get ome all around and still get the bilstiens if your trying to keep the cost down.


deal with the other components separately. lower ball joints are the only ones you should consider replacing if they old. others can be put off unless you notice big problems.

Honestly, right now I'm keeping it mostly stock. I just need a reliable truck to get me to college and back and haul my stuff and friends around.

For what it's worth I saved about $40 by asking the dealership for the recall kit that contains both LBJs and 4 cotter pins - 04005-02235. Paid $211.

I put on new castle nuts too, 2/$7 90171-A0005

OME (Old Man Emu) is a manufacturer with their own line of springs primarily for lifted Toyotas. It can definitely cause confusion. If you are looking to keep things stock, KYB Gas-a-just or Bilstein 4600's are generally the recommended aftermarket shocks. As far as springs go, you almost certainly don't need to replace the fronts, but are more likely to need to replace the rears as they do tend to sag.

As others have said, the typical recommendation is to go OEM only for lower ball joints as a failure is catastrophic. I would stay away from that kit.

I've used 1AAuto for my 2006 Civic many times and their parts all came out great other than the engine mount kit I bought from them which had to be modified to fit correctly. I wouldn't mind using their suspension parts but I would definitely skip their lower ball joints and get strictly OEM's. Don't expect them to last like the Toyota parts though.
