IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE 85 4runner

I was curious if an IACV valve opens when cold, closes when warm, and test for resistance within spec 39ohm-59ohm , tests at 49.9, is a working IACV valve?

Sounds like a silly question but I saw one on eBay, cant get them new any more, and was wondering if there is any other function that would need to be tested. I know it has a plug in but not sure it's function.

Can someone tell me the function of the plug (12v) to the IACV in an 85 4runner?

So Kid what does the 12v plug do on the unit?

On the wiring diagram it shows it as a resistor going to the ECU and it ties in before the fuel pump. Can't find any info. on what it does. An assumption would be for timing while cold.

Who is "they"? Have you tried rockauto.com or the dealer?

"They" are the compilation of online dealers who offer products. If you search the part number they show available but when you call they are Unavailable... That is 1st gen. Rockauto does not have them either.......

You can't get an IACV new? Delete it then. Convert to a late model intake manifold and you won't need it.

Oh and I think there is another alternative to replacing intake. On Bulletin 10 addressing the warm soak hard start/rough idle issue they recommend changing the cold start timing switch and temperature sending unit to the "newer" parts. The newer parts have different switch values. Along with this change they require disconnecting the ACV wire on ECU to prevent a constant high idle.

One note for someone who tries this is about the part numbers. On the cold start time switch it is simple there is a new part number. However, with switch #2 at the time of fixing the issue they had a different part number. What they did was go back to original part number later and just changed the value at which the switch activates. So for just the one year or two maybe was there 2 different part numbers for switch 2. A newer purchased part number for switch #2 today has the corrected settings.
