Idle issue

hey!! a few months back my check engine light came on, gave me a code 7-1 i think and it was EGR valve after looking it up... i replaced it.... check engine light doesnt come on anymore but it does idle funny now. like it'll stay reved up to like 1.8k rpm for a while and varies in between 900 rpms to 1.8k, but after been driven for a while it does fine and idles to 800-900 like it should. what would cause it todo this. the Oxygen sensor or throttle position sensor? any idea let me know its a 95 3.0, i havnt been on in a while but i hope yall remember me

ok so i did a check up and sure enough it was the 71 code again which is egr valve or gas temp sensor or something else like the ECU or EFI fuse, is what the haynes manual says. but i know those arent always the issue but can you guys atleast point me in the right direction on to what to fix
