That noise I was hearing must have been from the parking pawl making contact with the spinning notched wheel inside the transmission. For some reason the transmission shaft was still spinning even though I had stopped already. Weird!!

What was also weird, after I put it in Park, heard this noise, I then put it back in drive and lightly hit the gas, there was no power going to the wheels at all. Then put it back in Park, and I heard the noise again. Then I shut the vehicle off, waited a few minutes then started it again. Everything was back to normal.

Oh well, All is working now correctly. :bravo:

Had you already turned off crawl control?
 
I think I hit the button to turn it off as soon I passed the camera, but perhaps not, sounds like it might be a legit reason.

I was associating "A/T P" indicator light to do with the transmission pressure, so my first thoughts were oh Sh**!

Definitely not a good spot to lose a transmission, that's for sure.
 
Interior LED's

Well I installed my interior LED's yesterday. Looks so much better inside. Thanks again to sp8ball, Philsey, and enduro for your posts and instructions. I replaced the Map lights up front, the rear(aka middle) seat light and the 2 rear hatch lights.

Now I'm really disgusted with the color of the Door bottom Foot lights. I'm about to order some LED's to replace those now.

so there is a noticeable, good difference? It's hard to tell from the pic if it's a brighter, better quality light, or if it's just a different color. if things inside are much easier to see I might have to swap them too.
 
They are much brighter than the stockers and make the interior look all that much better. The OEM lighting is dull and gloomy compared to the new LED's.

My only thing with changing the interior to LEDs is it ruining my night vision for a little every time a door opens. I work a swing shift so its important to me. I might do the puddle lights though.
 
I'm gonna try these and see if they work. Part # WLED-xHP5

Same ones sp8ball used for his dome lights. I should be getting them by Friday. I'll let you know if they work and then take some pics.
 
Well I installed the WLED-xHP5's into the door lights and the light output is a lot better now. They fit perfect into the housing and the little plastic cover was still able to fit with them in there. Here are a couple pics of them installed. One of the LED's was dead on arrival, so I'll have to shoot them an email.

On a side note, I did install these led's into the Map lights and it wasn't as nice looking as the ones I already put in there. It's hard to explain the differences, but the light from the single Cool white led's just seem more HD-ish for the interior. They seem just as bright, but the WLED-WHP are just more pleasing to my eyes.

I installed the LED's in my map lights last night. I went with Red. Not sure if that will fit the bill for you. I hope to have some pics up sometime soon.

FYI, you CAN put bigger ones in the door puddle light locations if you remove that top plastic piece. Your rig is lookin' good!

Of course as soon as I stopped, the A/T P light on the dash lit up. Luckily after I turned the 4Runner off and let it sit for a few minute, the light turned off. Not sure why that turned on though. Also when I would put it in Park, I would get a grinding noise from the tranny or the transfer case as well, which was something I have never heard or felt before.

I had that happen last weekend too - I had stopped, shifted to P, and attempted to go from 4L to 4H. There were some grinding noises but I forced nothing. Light went on.

Shifting to N seemed to let it go back to 4H.

IIRC I had crawl off, and terrain select on.

Weird. You'd swear the computer got confused somehow.

Unfortunately TE's are puddle lamp-less. I wonder if there is wiring for them though in my mirror harness. Maybe I could drill a couple holes and install some LEDs. That would be cool.
 
^Funny you should mention that. I was just wondering today if it was possible to swap the mirrors with the signals and puddle lamps onto the TE. Would be nice if it was already wired for it...
 
I was wondering if there was the wiring as well. The mirrors with the lights arent very cheap though. Not sure if it's worth it for me.
