So here is some awesome 4Runner math.... I was enjoying a ride with my daughter and just thinking that I drive mine an average of 6000 miles or less a year since I have owned it, I currently have 160k on the clock, and I am 38 years old. With all those stats I should be able to drive my T4R daily until I am 60, or it could realistically be my daughters first truck (she is 3). That is assuming I get to 300k. You guys ever consider that you may have purchased your last daily driver (if you choose it to be) based on the durability of our trucks? Rad!

i bought my 99 with a 110k almost 2 years ago and only put 3000 miles on it so far , not my dd . so she should last a while .

I put 7500 miles a year on it (110k, owned it 14.5 years). Only motor vehicle I own.

Hoping some key part doesn't become scarce. If not, I'll have it for at least 15 more years.

Yes I just realized this as I searched for a keyless entry fob. $60 plus on eBay.

I realized that shortly after I bought it/fell in love with it. I'll drive her till she cant go anymore. Then replace the motor and do it again.

Same here. It's my dd, but i anticipate that unless i get itchy for something else, I'll replace anything that breaks with an upgrade and keep rocking. I'm hoping to be one of those people who shows up in a toyota ad with like 800k miles.

It's no the durability that i think about

its that the older the truck gets the more likely that if im in a accident the insurance company will total it.

I bought my 1997 new and it still has only 88K miles on it! Up until I retired a couple of years ago I had a company van that I could use for personal driving so the T4R was only used on weekends when I wanted to go out in the desert shooting photos.

And being retired I don't have to go anywhere every day .

There isn't a spot of rust on it (Arizona car) and I intend to keep it running as long as possible! It is kept inside all the time so the metallic red paint is still in pretty decent shape.

Ha. I have a 99 Limited that my Mom drove for the better part of 11 years before they were ready to part with it. I ended up buying it 3 years ago from my folks this month with 138K on it, and as it sits today it is almost ready to tick past 150K. My son who is 6 years old will likely be the lucky guy who gets this as his first car. Hell of a present waiting for him when he is 16 if you ask me!

I was thinking about the same thing.
If I try really hard I'll hit 6K a year. I have 130K on it now so, At this it will take 12+ more years to hit 200K, when my daughter hits 16.
I AZ, and with the way I maintain cars it can easily be her first car. That is, of course if she wants to drive dad's 30yr old truck.

I was thinking about this same topic recently. In the past 14 years, I have driven 253,000 miles, and for 3-4 years I had a long commute. I now have a very short commute. I have 3 cars and a motorcycle so it's tough for me to put even 3,000 miles on any one vehicle per year. I'm thinking about paring down to 2 cars and keeping the motorcycle. Between my 4Runner (262,000 miles) and my other car (Infiniti G35 coupe with 56,000 miles) and my motorcycle, I think I can avoid buying a new car for a very long time. I have owned my last car and one of my current cars for 14 years. I like holding onto good cars for a long time.
