I'd look into getting a FD3S or a 240sx. or buy a beater and boost my truck or build the bottom end.

Late 90's early 2000 LexusGS400 or 430. V8, 300 HP, 300+ Ft Torque, sub 6 and 7 sec 0-60, paddle shift style steering wheel, rear wheel drive, and 20+miles to the gallon. Its a nice sleeper that will out run most of the stock cars listed in this thread. Unmatched comfort and reliability.

As a 3000GT owner, it does have room for 4, if two of the people have no legs
I will say it's generally reliable and does have good MPG, but it's not quick - unless you're talking a VR4.

agreed on the 350z. I owned one for over 4 and half years and its was the best bang for the buck in terms of sports car. One of my biggest regrets was selling it. The 03's are in your price range but try to see if you can get a 04 because quite a few 03 suffered from the tire feathering problem (mines did). But the 350z would be a bad ass sports car.
I plan to pick one up down the line as well since they are so cheap now.

Tough budget but I'm going to say a Mustang, preferably 99-04 because I like that body style best. Plus, they're cheap to mod if you ever get a little bit of money to play with and get bored.
Camaros/TA's, etc are out there too, but a little bit more to mod. I have owned both, a '99 z28 and a 2003 Cobra. Can't compare the two, obviously, but both were amusing cars. For $9k, a z28 or TA should be fun.
If you can find a 350z for $9k, jump on that all day, the lowest I have seen them for is maybe $15k or so....
The older M3 will be a maintenance nightmare especially since it's older, good luck to you if you want to mod it, same with an older S4 which I would stay away from, knowing they have some problems and just because they're supposedly boring cars to drive.
What is the Subaru 2 door WRX STI thing? It is kind of old but supposedly a great car, really fun. If you are into something like that, that could be something to research. I don't know my subbies though, so I'm not even sure what year to guess.

Volvo S80 turbo I used to own one and it was a ****ing blast to drive!! The ones with electronic throttle control are so fast. Not so reliable though, certainly not as reliable as my old Volvo 850 turbo.
I love Volvos but thats just me. The S80s look awesome in silver with blacked out windows and a nice set of wheels.

Anyway, 9 grand on a sport car. I'd probably try and find a late 70's trans am with the 400 small block. I own an 81 camaro and love how that thing drives. I've also driven a 77 trams am with the 400 and liked that even better because, well, because it had more power to be honest. Lol shoot me if you want but a clean 79 trans am loaded with T-tops and the 400 is probably my all time favorite car, only wish it was't choked with emissions.
