If you had to pick, SofTex or genuine leather?

Really? The 4Runner brochure says it's Standard Equipment on the SR5 Premium, Trail Premium and Limited models...

They are referring to the fact that the lights, if set to the on position will turn off when you turn the car off and then turn on when the car is started.

The Limited's are the only ones that have the actual light sensors that detect when to turn the headlights on/off.

They will automatically shut off if you leave them in the on position when turning the car off and automatically turn back on when starting the car up. They don't have an auto feature that you can set them to so that when it gets dark the headlights automatically come on or go off when it gets bright. You have to go to the Limited model to get that feature.

Hey, I had missed that in the prem features. More for my money! Forgot about the side mirror signals. Anyway, I'm about 3 weeks into my wait for it to be built and delivered. Got what we want coming. Again, u should do the same.

holy crap, dealer is making a sh1t ton of money on you.

leather costs dealers $800-1000,
seat heaters cost $200-300 for 1set of 4pcs

the shop doing the expediting work, cost on the leather kits are $650 and 75 for the seat warmers

You do the math.

Anybody using something special for cleaning (and conditioning) the SofTex Leather?

I just picked up a 2020 4 Runner SR5 premium, with black and grey Softex seats. They feel pretty nice. I took my dogs to the dog park the other day and my boxer jumped from the cargo area to the rear seats. The mud from her paws cleaned nicely just using a (Tuff Stuff) car upholstery cleaner and her claws did not leave marks. So far so good. But we will see after a couple of years..

I don't have any experience with Toyota vinyl but I do on with MB. I have an ML with $20K in options
but I passed on the leather because the MB-Tex (MB's vinyl) seemed like the better match for what
I want...durability. Funny thing is that not one person even realized that the interior isn't leather.

Most German cars come standard with vinyl because the majority are leased and the leather seats end up
costing thousands for dealers to remedy after three year leases. The leather tends to come back unattractive
and cracked which is not appealing to CPO buyers. The vinyl looks new after three years.

About 10% of MB cars come with leather - in part because the majority of buyers assume that MB cars come with leather.

Modern vinyls have come a very long way and now are far more durable than leather and have the look and feel of leather. Today, even leather seats have much of the non-seating surfaces in vinyl and most people could never tell the difference.

Go to a dealer and look at a 50k mile Limited and compare it to a 50k mile car with Softex.

If you want a certain type of color then get leather. I have softex and i like it. Seems durable so far. If you go with genuine leather just make to take care of it. You will have to condition it. If not, it becomes hard and will eventually crack. Let your heart and wallet decide.
