Ok I know I said I was avoiding the off topic section. Feel free to flame/ make fun of I don't care. This is too good not to share. My wife forwarded this to me about how the writer of Dilbert is switching his vote. It's worth the read.

Scott Adams has always been a Trump guy, so no surprise there.

The “Arizona Republic,” published since 1890, had never in 31 presidential election cycles endorsed a Democrat over a Republican for President. Today it endorsed Hillary Clinton.

These longstanding republican or conservative institutions endorsing Clinton is not at all surprising to me.

Hillary is a neocon warmonger and the other guy is a fraud clown.

Could you imagine if say, the 1st Amendment were restricted like the 2nd?

In order to speak your opinions, you must first submit fingerprints, pass a background check, the gov't must vet you are not mentally ill, on medication, ever had a drinking problem and take a public speaking course to ensure you can convey your opinions properly. In addition, pay a $150 fee for that pleasure every 4 years. If you don't carry your 1st Amendment exercise card, you're an instant felon.

Furthermore, your right to express your opinions are limited to your state of residence and license. Expressing opinions in another state may land you in jail, especially if you use the wrong terminology or regurgitating talking points that are not original thoughts of your own. However, certain states have reciprocity agreements and honor your license, while others do not; make sure you study the law carefully because any mis-step or wrong interpretation of the law will ensure you're a felon for life, stripping you permanently of your right to free speech.

Lastly, if you choose to write down your opinions, only certain writing utensils are allowed. Certain models of pencils and pens are allowed, but none with high capacity ink or lead. Accessories are highly regulated. Extensions, handles and grips are expressly forbidden. Ink-jet refills are limited to 5mL in some places but others 30 mL cartridges are acceptable. Pencils that are too short or pens that are too long require a NOA (National Opinion Act) stamp fee of $200 in order to legally use them. Ensure you never purchase a writing device used to convey opinions for others. Straw-purchases are highly frowned upon unless you're a part of the government shipping 1st amendment capabilities to Mexico. Gifting to family rules of 1st amendment devices is only allowed as long as the devices do not cross state lines. However, you can let a family member borrow any 1st amendment device indefinitely without fear of legal repercussion. It is highly frowned upon creating DIY 1st amendment devices, also known as "ghost pencils". These are untraceable and cause much concern and angst to a portion of the population.

In summary, Hillary will never have my vote.

i've never seen words that were able to kill someone like bullets.

Also before i get all the nonsense arguments about how i must be a liberal who wants to outlaw your guns, i dont. I have an LTC. and i like guns. They provide a nice form of recreation and competition and by no means do i think they need to be outlawed, or taken away. They give me a way to defend myself before the cops arrive. Why would i want to take that away from anyone?

Now i will agree that databases need to talk to each other. If you are on the no fly list should you be able to buy a gun? NO. If you have a history of mental health problems should you be able to buy a gun? NO. If you have a felony record should you be able to buy a gun? NO. What is wrong with any of these restrictions?

Unfortunately i believe (this is my logic here) most of the daily gun violence in america is committed with stolen weapons. Taken in home burglaries, sold on the street, and used to kill others likely in commission of other crimes. How do we stop or stem the stolen guns? Now that one is a tough one...

also how do you propose hillary will outlaw guns? It is not going to happen. If we cant find 11+ million undocumented individuals how do you propose they are going to find 300+ million guns???

Nailed it.

Guns aren't going anywhere, but fear of same sells a lot of NRA memberships.

Definitely didn't nail it. Behind every shooting is a mentally ill, criminal or horrible person. The tool they use is irrelevant. Never once has a firearm just got up and shot someone.

On the no fly list. Where is the due process of law? How does one even get on that list? Or off it?

What is a mental illnesses. ADD?,ADHD, Postpartum?, PTSD? At what level? (People now get diagnosed with it after a bad car accident). Who will decided what is a mental illness and what is not?

As to felony purchases it is already illegal to purchase firearms. You can petition the court for your rights to be reinstated. Ironically recently the Democratic Party has been petitioning the public to restore voting rights to most felons. Does it just stop there?

The most important aspect I can see here is due process of law can not be subverted. That is the 5th amendment. No different than subverting the 1st or 2nd amendment.

For people that are going to say you can't yell fire in a movie theater. Well No Sh*t Sherlock. You also can't point a gun around in public without just cause. Same as yelling fire. There D*amn well better be cause to yell it. Perhaps we should evaluate those people first that do these stupid things. Then see if that makes any difference.

Since the inception of gun control in America there has been no link between gun control and a lessening of crime, gun related or otherwise. It is nothing more than a means of control in a upper and lower class society. See ruling class and serf class if you question what I meant there. Once again I am not saying this can't or won't work in other countries. But the world is not the same and no country should be forced to conform to another country's values.

I didnt say firearms ever got up and shot anyone without someone pulling the trigger. please reread and then quote.

the only cohesive argument i am gleaning from this is that these are all "slipperly slopes" to you, but you propose nothing better. thanks for your dissent without proposal of a better option. that's so helpful.

I didn't propose anything else because I don't think it is needed. I wasn't trying to come off with dissent. I think if we actually enforced the laws on the books. Got tougher on the criminals we now let "cut deals" to get a softer charge,i.e. Wave the gun charge.
Get rid of gun free zones as criminals usually target those. If you want to put an optional training course coupon with the purchase of a firearm I am fine with that. But laws only apply to law abiding citizens. I don't see how "feel good" laws, more useless regulation, will stop a criminal. It's already illegal to murder people doesn't matter the tool. It's illegal to rob people doesn't matter the means. So adding more laws isn't a valid solution in my opinion.

Maybe if you want to get tougher on mental illness you can let parents award their mentally ill child as a ward of the state and then not release them when the turn of age. See the mental illness history in the 60's. If someone was voluntary committed by their parents and wanted to leave after they were of age and after the law was passed they were free to go. Nothing on their record. But to say mentally ill people shouldn't buy guns is a very broad statement. I am sure 90% of the population could be diagnosed with some form of mental illness. Be it ADD, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, ect. Since you proposed the mental illness standard could you please elaborate on what you would consider mentally ill? Do you agree the "Due Process of Law" is a good thing to adhere too? What about the no fly list ban then? I am interested in hearing your reasoning for these items.

i guess my basic feeling is that ive got nothing to hide in my history, no criminal, mental, no-fly list or otherwise. so i dont care what you check on me, you arent going to find something that would cause me to not be able to purchase firearms. And most other lawful citizens have the same background as i do.Granted, having nothing to hide, doesnt mean you have to put it all out there to prove that.

and upon further research of the no fly list, it is a bit of a slippery slope. got a kick out of this:
"Asif Iqbal, a management consultant and legal resident of the United States born in Pakistan, plans to sue the U.S. government because he is regularly detained when he tries to fly. He has the same name as a former Guantanamo detainee.[34][35] Iqbal's work requires a lot of travel, and, even though the Guantanamo detainee has been released, his name remains on the No Fly List, and Iqbal the software consultant experiences frequent, unpredictable delays and missed flights.[36] He is pushing for a photo ID and birthdate matching system, in addition to the current system of checking names." from wikipedia. but for real, this list needs to contain pictures and birthdate in addition to names. thats just crazy.

I have nothing to hide as well. I am getting on a firearms trust even after Obama created an executive order that will create a paperwork snafu at the to and a undue financial burden on the consumer end. But that does not mean I think these laws will affect criminals in any way shape or form

The no fly list is one example of many in gun control and other rights control where due process of law was not followed. If it was then it wouldn't be as big of a problem.

I will be surprised if Trump does not get Arizona, the racist people have not quite died off yet here.

Jon Oliver just did a Last Week Tonight on these two, and yeah Hillary's not great but relative to Trump (a pretty low bar) she's who I would vote for.

Besides Arizona and the few major incidents are you against all types of racism of just if it is directed toward a minority? In the demographic break down of the world everybody but Asians ate minorities. So does it count as racism if the press doesn't cover it but it's hate directed at any race?

Do y'all have a write-in option in Canada? Perhaps y'all should write in HRC during the next general election since there seems to be an abundance of support for her up there.
