Probably some flavor of FJ. Not a 100 though, something 40 through 80 (a 45 would rock!). I'd look at FJ Cruisers too. A Wrangler Rubicon or DC Taco wouldn't be out of the question. A crewcab F150 with the Ecotec would be nice, but maybe too big.

For me, nothing old because maintenance is killer, even on old Toyotas. I have gone thru all sorts of cars & trucks after selling my 2002 4runner. I have had G500, M3, Corollas, etc.. For me, i would end up with what i have now...some sort of Subaru. Subaru has excellent AWD system, decent ground clearance (for all-weather, not off-road), safe, and are fairly fuel efficient in the newer models. Hey, with gas prices inching upward, i certainly don't want to be stuck with an old V8 that will only drink more gas as it ages. With 3 young kids and the upcoming costs of raising family, i have to be practical. But then again, i do have my midlife crisis coming up in a few years...so, who knows!

That's a toughy. If I had to sell my 1st gen. 4Runner, I'd get a 3rd gen. Runner.
But you said can't be a Runner, so maybe a FJ80, FJ40, or Tacoma.
