Is this a good engine ? what is a typical lifespan milage wise ? pros and cons ?
I have been very happy with my 3.4, as she has never had a major issue and is still running top notch at 270,000 miles, is the 4.7 in the same caliber.
Looking to get a new to me tundra for work, the 4.7 seems to get the same milage as the 3.4, and tundras seem to go for less used then the tacoma.
Just looking for feedback on this engine.
Thanks in advance

Never heard anything bad about them. My parents have two in their '05 Tundra and '05 Runner. Thing feels like a beast compared to my 3.4, even in the Tundra being bigger.

I have it in my 03 4Runner and LOVE it. I can't figure out why Toyota stopped producing them. There's one guy on here with over 442k miles on his, which gives me a good sign since mine only has 82,000. Only thing is it has a timing belt (so does the 3.4L) but it IS and Interference engine so that belt breaks and the engine is toast.

Because they produced something better, the 1UR-FE, 4.6L V8 used in current Tundras and Lexus GX460

I know what they made the 4.6L after the 2UZ. But considering the 1UR is so new (no reliability proven quite yet, I don't doubt the engine since its a Toyota Engine, but it is made out of Aluminum instead of a cast iron block. I also think the intake is plastic and not the non-VVTI 4.7L's cast iron, I think that is what it is.
