What is the usual lifespan of the ignition coils of our 3rd gens and what kind of issues would they cause when they do start to fail?

They either work or they don’t. There is no in between where a coil would not work one day and then work the next.
They could last a million miles or more like a lot of sealed electrical components. But one could fail at any time. Also but...The coil boots are replaceable, those are the things that have a finite life. The rubber breaks down and gets hairline cracks from heat and arcs out. So good to replace the coil boots when replacing a wire set. For the 3.4L you can get an oem Denso set of 3 from rockauto for $32.79.What is the usual lifespan of the ignition coils of our 3rd gens and what kind of issues would they cause when they do start to fail?
