I think I've been gone for 6 years - is Thai still here?

I've got great news - my T4R juices are flowing strong once again - GG Jr. is getting his license soon (amazing how time flies!) so we just bought a 2005 SR5 4WD so he'll have something big and safe to drive and it will make for a great extra vehicle for our family (plus our dog LOVES it!).

The T4R we bought is Pacific Blue Metallic (I believe '05 is the last year that color was offered). It was a one owner vehicle with 104K miles. It came with copies of receipts showing it was dealer maintained at the same dealer every 6 months so I believe it was impeccably maintained - it runs like brand new and my Toyota mechanic could find nothing wrong with it.

It has the 4.0/5spd auto combo with the part time 4WD, sunroof, tow hitch, steering wheel audio controls, roof rack, sidesteps, and I think those are the only extra options it came with.

The only mods so far are we added a Pioneer 7" CD/DVD head unit with ApplePlay and some sheepskin seat covers for the front seats. The new stereo sounds great even with the stock speakers - but I'm sure he'll want to change them out at some point. The original stereo was the non-JBL unit with the old cassette player - remember cassettes?

Anyway it's great to be back and I'm happy to see that the forum is still going strong after all these years . I need to refresh my recollection on all things T4R - shouldn't there be a new gen coming out soon?

Also, if anyone can steer me to a thread on how to change the factory lock settings I would greatly appreciate it. We want to set it so all doors unlock with single press on the remote and all doors unlock when you park - I seem to remember this was something that an owner could do themselves, thanks.

Well using the search button I was able to find the answer to my own question in this old thread:

It looks like I can change the way it locks/unlocks relative to Parking/speed/opening driver's door, but unfortunately I'll need to have dealer help in setting it so that the remote will unlock everything with one push.

If you have a laptop you can try one of those Chinese TIS Techstreams, they work pretty well from what I hear.

Does that support Apple CarPlay? Does your steering wheel controls still work with it?

No...actually, i want to know! My Sienna is 2008...no USB. I am thinking on upgrading OEM headunit with something that can do CarPlay and have steering wheel control and integrates with JBL OEM system.

As for the steering wheel controls, yes they work great with the Pioneer. HOWEVER, the Geek Squad guy that installed it said I had to buy an extra part to do so which cost an extra $100 roughly for the part and installation - I'd have to find the receipt to be sure. I almost didn't get it since the thing comes with a remote and the touchscreen is so simple to use, but in hindsight I'm VERY glad I spent the extra money cuz I use the steering wheel buttons a ton.

I also paid extra for an HDMI cable that runs into the glovebox - I think the guy said we'll need that to play videos on it but I haven't read the manual. It has a USB cable run to the center console to plug in your phone.

Thai, the ApplePlay is really cool by the way - you'll love it - and it gives you a navigation system via your phone which is awesome! Also, I really love the Pandora feature, pic below, which also works with the steering wheel buttons

ApplePlay? It is called, Apple CarPlay. :hand:

The headunit looks very nice...hmmm, i may get it for my Sienna. I wonder how it acts with the Sienna's OEM JBL audio system/amplifier/DSP. May have to stop by BB and ask.
