I'm confused...

Hey All,
I own 2 1998 T4R's, one a SR5 and one a Limited, both with the 3.4 engine and auto trans. In the past had both transmissions serviced at the local Toyota dealer... "flushed with the 100%" fluid exchange with the connection near the radiator. Traded the 1998 Limited last week for a 2004 T4R Limited V8 with the "sealed" transmission I assume. The rig has 42k on it and I'm interested in the transmission flush again on the 2004. From most of the research I've looked at, the deal is the drain plug and the fill plug...no mention of the flush system. Called 2 Toyota dealers and they both do the flush at $165-$185 at the radiator hook up. Neither mentioned the drain and fill. When I had the '98 flushed was told the transfer was also done during the flush but this does not seem to be the case with the 2004. Also, do the front and rear diff's use 75-90 gear oil ??? Thanks to all who reply for your enlightment.

75w-90 is correct for the transfer case and both axles. The transmission requires a special type fluid and to have the dealer do it may not be a bad idea. 42k is a bit early. If you tow Toyota suggests 60k. If you don't tow they say never. I don't agree with that but...

There's a sticky at the top of the maint section that talks about it.
