I reset my trip at fill up. Divide total gallons by trip miles.

Got the same on my last tank but that was with ALOT of 4wd use and about 2.5 hours of drifting and donuts

The only thing I've swapped is my thermostat. That was a couple months ago. The temp gauge is at about half once its warmed up.

You might start with all the usual stuff like a tune-up, check the timing, check compression, tire pressure, switch to manual hubs, alignment, etc.

If/when you do a complete tune-up make sure you use only OEM parts. Our classic 4Runners do not like anything else. I speak from experience.

Its hard to say. I changed the tstat as soon as I bought the vehicle.

Is your air filter real dirty?
Does the check engine light come on when you start it and then go away as it should?
Can you tell if the exhaust looks rich?
I would start by pulling the plugs to see what they look like. Then maybe new plugs, wires, cap and rotor... Be sure to use the correct NGK or Denso plugs.
Check the exhaust flow for a possible clogged cat.

I just went through the same issue. See my post and see if anything there might help.

"Terrible Gas Mileage" as one of the smart responders said here don't use after market parts. I tried a AF fuel regulator and it tore me up trying to figure what the static pressure on fuel line would not hold.

Well, MPG=Miles/Gallon so you need to take the number of miles and divide by number of gallons consumed.

Just wondering if you've found anything? I too am only getting about 10 mpg. I know I need to do a tune-up but was just checking to see if you found anything significant that I could keep my eyes open for.
