Im looking at the T4R yay or nay?

Im looking at the T4R Tomorrow need some input

I have a appointment to look at this truck tomorrow. Seeing if I should just stay away from it or or looks like a decent buy? Just looking for a DD. Any help will be much appreciated.

Just seems like their will be a fair amount of mechanical work that needs to be completed... If you're ok with that the great! But it does have a lot of mileage and is only a 2wd :-/

I already own a 01 t4r 4x4 that my wife drives around town. Just looking for something to commute back and fourth to work which is about 56 miles round trip. And I'm more than capable of putting a new drive shaft but do does it sound like their might be more to this?
 
I'd be interested in finding out why he thinks it needs a cam sensor. Will it start? Might be useful to bring an OBDII scanner and see what all codes it throws. Maintenance records?

If it looks as good as the pictures and it only needs the sensor and a drive shaft (possible - not likely) it's a smokin' deal. Even if you have to dump $2K in to it it's still a good deal. At $3K it looks less good but still better than a lot of what I see on CL.

Biggest risk is that the trans is toast or it won't smog.

I was thinking the same thing, Toyota will give you a Cam Sensor code whether it's a problem with the crank OR cam sensor. Maybe it needs a timing belt? I'd pay $1000 for it just based on the one picture though. You wouldn't lose any money on that.
 
So I ended up getting the 4Runner paying 1k. I think I got pretty good deal.
Pros- fluids all checked out. Motor sounded healthy turned over first key. New tires paint and body and interior grate shape. No rust.
Cons- water pump, timmingbelt pulleys spark plug, wires etc, needs to be replaced as well as drive shaft, front windshield small crack.

Yup, very fair! And just think, the driveshaft was already removed for towing it! Haha!
 
Lil update well turns out the Trans was in good shapel. I just needed to add more fluid ��. Lol. I've been driving it yesterday and today everything is checking out. ��
