im losing sleep over the color of my wheels....

I brought this lady killer back online about 3 mo. ago. and started getting into wheels and tires about a month ago. The original plan: was to murder the truck - w/ big tires. That plan was quickly abandoned. The new plan evolved the old concept and turned into rhino lining them: to gain a little texture and hopefully avoid too much of a "glossy look" - w/ big tires. In the process of scuffing-off the old finish, to give the bed liner something to stick too. I realized the "finish" I was putting onto the wheels was pretty sweet... a kind of "brushed aluminum" look - something I could spend some time on, clean up and clear over - w/ big tires. take a look. I need some opinions.

Either the pics don't get the proper image across or they don't look good.... No offense. However the bed liner idea is awesome. I have considered this myself.

I can't see that causing an issue with balance. I guess it might weigh more than plastidip, but still..

and OP, yeah those pictures definitely don't portray the idea that well or it just doesn't look too great... I'd finish up and paint them.

It looks kind of incomplete which is not surprising considering how freaking hard it would be to properly and eveningly polish that type of wheel.

Have you considered gunmetal / graphite? It worked for me. I wrote a whole thread about it.

Bedliner on wheels sounds horrible. Don't do it.

Having sprayed bedliner at a 4wd shop for a couple years i have to say its a terrible idea. It takes a lot of experience and even some luck to get a nice even coat. It's very easy to pause in one spot for half a second too long and have it build up on you, only to have to build and blend the areas around it. If you did a cheap roll on job you may have "better" luck getting them to balance. Where would the weights go anyway? Not on the lip unless you left it raw, and stick ons wouldnt work either...

To each their own of course but as far as style goes I don't think bedliner on wheels will look good at all.

1) it looks like colored chunky peanut butter spread
2) its rarely gloss

So yeah that's why.

Where's the center caps. They've always been much more trouble to keep paint on in my experience. I've never really had much trouble keeping paint on my rims. Scuff the finish and spray desired paint. Touch up as necessary -

Your truck is black right? Kinda hard to tell from the pictures. I would go with your original idea. Black on black may be a little too common, but it always looks right. If you don't want shine go with flat black, or gloss black and then matte clear. Better yet, go with with semi-gloss black. Unlike flat, you can actually clean semi-gloss. Semi-gloss is what I have on my wheels right now
