I'm Lost

Wow where do I begin...well i just purchased a 06 black sport 4runner with 20' chrome rims, the thing is beautiful. I am very happy, but i have a outside bling looking car, with no upgrades on the inside....many questions so I will number them...

1) i paid 29,000 before taxes...32,000 out the door...its a sport, with added only tow package, daytime lights, and thats really it, the wheels they were trying to charge 4000, i got them down to 1200...Is this a good deal???

2) does it make sense to have nice wheels on a sport package? Is the ride smoother on a SR5 if i dont offroad?

3) now as for audio....I have the basic system, cd one disc, stock speakers, is the speaker size 6x9 in front with tweeters, then in the back 5 1/4?

4) I want a new system, my budget is 1000-1500$...should i get all new speakers and a 4 channel amp....and later add a subwoofer with different amp? or should i just get a nice deck with nav/dvd and new speakers, and no amp?

5)final question i promise.....Car alarm, whats the best one and what added features should i get,

I thank you all for your help, charma will treat you good.....

get alarm first, before u do any stereo upgrades get alarm first, the best alarm is the compustar 2w900fm, 2 way paging and 3000feet range, u should invest in that, plus if u want autostart with it, u can add it also.

In my opinion you got a good deal. $1200.00 for 20" chrome wheels is a steal unless they are really crappy. Even though the XREAS was designed mostly for offroad it should carry over to a smoother ride on road than the SR5. Unfortunately it will be a harsher ride considering you have 20's.

For between $1000-$1500 you should be able to set yourself up with a nice system. If you want bass right off the bat get a headunit amps and subs and then do your high end later on. Or yuo can get a headunit speakers and an amp and be happy for the moderate bass the door speakers will put out. In the audio section you'll see some tips on how to do speakers in the doors due to the shortage of speakers tht fit the 4Runners. The guys in there have great ideas on how to modify the stereos.

Also great buy enjoy your 4Runner.

It makes perfect sense. I would only worry about the ride on 20" rims...so expect slightly harsher ride. XREAS is an ON-ROAD system...it improves on-road handling. It does NOT do much for off-road other than the fact that they are monotube shocks. See this link for more details on XREAS:

Welcome to the forum dude. Tip: next time break up your huge posting into two separate posts so you can get the most replies (keep the audio questions in the audio forum, and the general questions in the general forum).

Now go get that alarm first. Protect your valuables. Alot of people (myself included) in here have the Viper 791 alarm/remote start with 2-way pager, and like it alot.

6.5" speakers in the rear doors.

With a $1500 budget, I would get a new Head Unit and sub/amp, then add new speakers and a 4channel amp later on if budget allows. What are your musical tastes or what are you trying to accomplish with the system? (ie: the most bass possible, or good SQ, DVD/Nav, just better than ave, etc, etc)

The first thing is a new head unit. Get a new head unit. Then depending on what you like, get a 4 channel or 5 channel amp. Bass definately makes it sound a lot better. If I had a $1500 budget, I would pick up a JL 500/5 amp which is pretty expensive. Get speaker sfor the front, rear, and a subwoofer. $1500 should do the trick.

apologize

i apologize about the multiple threading, this wil never happen again, i am new to this so please be kind....I appreciate all the insight, i think my first move wil be the alarm the amp and the speakers. does anyone know the speaker sizes in the 2006. it doesnt even say in the manual????
