Wheels - I like 'em
Badges - I love 'em
Handles - I like 'em
Front grill - I need to redo it
Back trim over plate - Looks odd to me

But, I think that they need to be all the same (either painted or chrome).

Never have been a fan of plastic dipping. I just don't get it. However, I do like the door handles. Blends in very nicely with the black side mirrors.

As for the emblems I thought of leaving them and plastidipping the grille and the rear trim. I feel like that may pop out more. Have yet to do it though been real busy. But definitely like!

Yea same, been thinking of doing em as well. Did you pull on the handle and use painters tape for the inside portion? That's what I thought of doing.

I'm not a big fan of plasti-dip. It's non-committal, and in that sense, in my perspective, half-ass looking. Sorry you said it wouldn't hurt your feelings so i'm being brutally honest. And, it's just my opinion which is like an ass; everyone has one! (But mine smells good)

From a purist perspective, I enjoy the subtly modded vehicles, or the factory modded upgrades whether for aesthetics or performance. Unless for functionality purposes/necessities, less is more!

Well said, I agree. It's your vehicle so do what you want but I'm not a big fan. I might be down with some powder coated wheels but not the stock ones.

BTW OP you should photoshop out your plates. Not that anyone would track you down but they could with the plates.

Should I do my runner?

I have an 06 navy blue sr5 that the wheels are starting to flake. . so I was thinking of using clear plastidip for now and following it with metalizer spray. . .but then I was thinking of actually using black on the front grill and maybe back clip above the license plate.

I have the same color runner. I debadged and did the plati dip on the wheels and the grill. I personally love the look. But to each thier own. I have never been a fan of chrome.

I think if you going to black-out the grille then you might as well black-out the lower center piece on the front bumper. I like the handles and word emblems (SR5, 4runner etc) but personally I would have left the front and back Toyota emblems and V8 badge chrome just to give a bit of contrast.

I have to agree that plasti-dip is not a good permanent solution but it does work great as temporary solution to see if you like the look or not. This thread is a prime example of that, whatever the OP decides he doesn't like can be easily removed without damaging the surface.

Just being completely honest but I guess some people like it. To me it is ugly. It cheapens the look of the car/truck when wheels etc are blackened. Just my honest opinion.

Yeah, it's pretty absurd. It's like telling your girl she looks good in a pair of tight jeans, so she goes to the store and comes back with a new hat, bra, shirt, jacket, panties, and shoes - all made of denim.

Not sure why there is all this hate on plasti dip...... It's REVERSIBLE black paint. I agree some people over do it but who cares, peel it back off if it looks bad.

IMHO It looks terribad with dipp. 4th Gens deserve a sheen and luster!! Flat black belongs on honda civics or a 1985 S10 Blazer.. with the 2.8L.

4th gens just have that quality essence than none of the others have. Even the 5th gens are all plastic interior compared to the fit and finish of the 4th gens.. your runner deserves better
