I’m out

I always thought it was silly that they just didn't make a factory winch bumper so they could fit the diesel in the Power Wagons. But they are interesting vehicles none the less, even if they're Chrysler products.

I always though the sheer weight of the diesel was part of the problem (actual offroad ability) as well.

Either way, ive looked hard at the PWs a few times. I really like them, i just cant get over the abysmal fuel mileage (maybe a diesel would help with that) and having to think where i would actually take something that large off road. Great looking trucks though, i wish i had the need for one.

The articles I read said something along the lines that the flush mounted winch impinged on the engine bay enough that a diesel couldn't be installed.

Nope- I'm still here...could have used a truck these past 5 months- WANTED a truck, NEEDED a truck- BUT I rented like 8 trailers to get the job done, lol.

Just turned over 140K. Gobi has taken one hell of a beating and everything is filthy in and out.

but I'm still here.

Gonna miss you marshal for sure- you a good guy.:thumb3:

im not REALLY leaving. i still have a ton of shit talking to do

oh no. was it the smell finally?

actually between the vodka and ozium i got rid of all of it. it was just too good a deal to pass up. The local jeep dealership got a 17 in on trade with 14k miles on it. it has about $1000 in body damage on the bed in between the cab and the rear wheel on the passenger side, but the paint is all still there. So i scooped it and had the paintless guy pull as much out of it as he could. he got id say 90% of it out. still some wrinkles left in the metal where it creased, but its good enough for now until i have $1300 to have the old school body shop guy go to town on it with a slide hammer and a dolly.

ironically enough, the owner of this PW smoked so i've been using the same vodka ozium combo to pull the scent out. working well so far. a couple more applications and it will be nothing

Congratulations!

I bought a new truck recently as my Ram was losing the transmission and getting long in the tooth.

I looked hard at the power wagons but the Runner works for that role and a diesel pulls my boat better and..I'm buying a bigger camper too!

super crew LONG bed? Jesus - i thought this power wagon was big. thats an entirely different beast. I really wanted a crew short bed F250 diesel but its just so far out of my price range i couldn't do it. even with X-Plan, the power stroke is still a $7500 option on an already $55,000 truck

Pics? I'm thinking about ordering an 18 PW.

you should. for 2018 the RAM HD's got passive noise cancellation in the cab. apparently its like riding around in a Cadillac. They also got android auto/carplay and the updated U-connect which is apparently the best touch interface ever. I'll attach a photo at the bottom

so heres the deal coming from a FCA engineer. The Cummins and NISIN combo is too heavy. its almost 600lbs heavier than the 6.4 and the standard duty transmission. The cummins makes too much torque for the AAM 9.5 with a locker in it, not to mention the lockers are not up to the task of the cummins either (within warranty spec) The cummins is too big in the engine bay (and intercooler) for the flush mounted winch. The winch is attached to the frame, rather than the bumper - if the winch was attached to the bumper, Chrysler would have to redo all crash tests for this one specific model. and LASTLY

The the Rubicon team (who handles the PW) feels that the cummins power curve is not as responsive as the 6.4L offroad because of the long stroke and the turbo lag. additionally they have concerns over the EGR/DPF system being totally exposed to damage and as an ignition source for dry grass.

there are loads of reasons/excuses. Either way I'm really happy with the 6.4. its not a raptor by any means but its still faster than a Tacoma and gets the same fuel milage. Im averaging 17MPG right now on the highway (my 4Runner was getting 12)

here are the only photos i have of it at the moment:

Oh yeah .... cab lights. I couldn't have a P/U without cab lights.

Nice Will. It's just ostentatious enough. Arr arr arr ....

PWs are cool. I would not mind owning one.

Anything with factory lockers these days is cool. I think the only ones sold here at the moment are

- Dodge PW
- Jeep JK Rubi
- Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
- GWagon

The fact that they included a winch from the factory in the PW is just super cool. Imagine if Toyota had the passion to do something like that.

Do we need a "Sold my runner and bought a truck but Im still lurking" sticky?

Welcome to the club!

Here's my goodbye truck

Perfect, I just got a new Android. Jelly of the PW, there are a couple of PW forums you could check out if you're interested.

Raptor has an optional front locker as well. Ford has a electronic locking rear differential option on all of its F series models. The Power Wagon also borrows the electronic swaybar disconnect from the Rubicon as well.

ruby red is one of my favorite colors on a truck

i'll just be on ExPo

Kept the T4R and added a full size.

cummins?

speaking of factory winch. They "SAY" its a 12,000lb winch, but im not buying it, eyeing it up compared to the 16,000lb winches we had on humvee's in the AF. Im not sure if the 12k and the 16k share the same casing, just different motors - but this shit is enormous. EASILY double the size of a 9500Ti. the ****ing thing has a FOUR HUNDRED AMP circuit breaker

No sh!t. If GM can/did put a front locker in the H3 and currently the Colorado I know Toyota could put one in the 4R. Our front axles are beefy enough.

I don't think the raptor has a front locker. I'm 99% sure they just offer an optional torsen limited slip.

Only ones I know of are the ones I listed zr2, g-wagon, p-wagon, rubi. I might have missed one oddball, but I don't really even consider the g-wagon mainstream.
