Improvement - Back Hatch

I smashed my rear hatch into the garage door today. I unloaded groceries in the driveway. Got in, and drove into the garage. No damage, just scratched the wiper arm on the garage door.
Would it make sense to ask Toyota to add a back hatch open light?
Anyone ever do anything like this?

My door open light is on when the hatch is open. It isn't a hatch specific light, it's the same one that illuminates when a door is open.

I must confess, I've got in, cranked up and couldn't figure out why it was loud inside. Thankfully I haven't done it where damage could be done.

aha that's what I did wrong, I had the driver door part open while I pulled in. Defeated the idiot light!! thanks.
