In channel or out side install for wind deflectors?

I am geting rid of my 2003 V6 Runner and buying a 2005 V8 4Runner in the next week. The ones that are on my old Runner are the ones that install on the outside of the window frame. I was unsure which type to buy this time around as I think the in-channel ones look much sleeker but I have seen some posts concerning problems with the in-channel wind deflectors. Any thoughts by anyone on which ones to buy?

I have the in-channel on mine, and have never had a problem. I have the weathertech brand. Like you, I think they look a hole lot better. Plus, I didn't want to attach that adhesive to the outside of my 4runner.

I bought the "out of channel" ones, mainly because I like the looks of the canadian version. They have the "one-piece" look to them.

I have the inside ones now, and really like them.

The only problem I had, was when they were first put on. The drivers side 'auto up' would sense the deflector, and think there was something in the window and then pull the window back down.

But now that the deflectors have been in there for awhile, it doesn't do it anymore.

I have inchannel

AVS off ebay, complete set 44 bucks to my door. Ventvisor by AVS nambrand, no problems and less than about 10 minutes to install. Got the Moonroof visor too, it's the outside tape mount one and they all work great, expecially in Germany where it rains all the freaking time.
