in-dash gps/satellite radio

hey all. after a few months of searching i finally found the '01 runner i've been looking for. that being said and now that i have it, i'm looking to replace the stock radio with an in dash gps/satellite radio. i don't want to rig mine in the visor or the ashtray or anywhere else like i've seen elsewhere on the forums, just want some suggestions on in-dash units/builds and if anyone had any pics that'd be great. looking forward to learning from and contributing to the forums and building out my rig. thanks in advance for the help...

I have an Eclipse AVN6620 and I really like it. The graphics are a little dated, but other than that, it's perfect. The great part of the Eclipse GPS units is that they are the manufacturer for the stock Toyota GPS units, so they're a direct plug and play.

Been thinking of doing this as well. I really dig that eclipse ^^^. My one major stipulation is that I dont want to have to take my music cd out just to put a nav disk in if i want to use the gps

I'm not sure if all of the other Eclipse units have them, but mine has two disc slots. One of them is dedicated to the NAV disc.
 
I used to have a Pioneer Avic and it only had one. I had to remove my cd and put in the nav disk. keeping that disk scratch free and in reach proved to be a real challenge
 
I'll play along. I love the eclipse. Crappy iphone pics, kind of taken from the driver perspective.

thanks for the info and pics. i've read some not so great stuff about the motorized units like the motor failing and they stop opening and also that they get in the way of the shifter. that being said if you guys love your unit i'm assuming this isn't an issue. pics don't look like it's in the way of the shifter either.

just back in town this morning and right after i turned the key and started her up, the antenna shot out of it's hole, teeth and all! going to look into converting it into a fixed antenna rather than a motorized so this doesn't happen again...

If I'm in park and open the deck, the face will just hit the shifter, but it doesn't interfere with it.

exactly.

Also, I've had mine for a little over a year, and the motor is still functioning like new as far as I can tell.
 
My apologies in advance, but would love to see what the in-dash gps/satellite radio looks like in a Limited with the Auto Climate Control. I looked but didn't find anything. I'll also check Google to see if I find anything.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
 
I really like the Eclipse Nav units, but I couldn't pass up the deal I found on a brand new Kenwood DNX6000EX nav unit. (fixed face)

WOW, That thing looks really nice and it matches the green from the climate control which is what I have been looking for, Thanks a whole bunch Cody. :cheers:

You're welcome. Do keep in mind that most in-dash units have variable color selecting. Now go and find a deal!

True, Ive been out of the Audio game for decades... Shoot, I remember when I had the original(mid to late '80s) Bazookas, which come to think I may still have in my garage. :nerd:
