In-Dash nav system for 2002 4runner?

I'm planning on buying my husband an in-dash navigation system for his 2002 Toyota 4runner for Christmas but I'm not sure where to begin. :nono: I found a nav. system on autodvdgps.com and they told me to measure the size of the manufactured radio so they can show me what will fit. I'm pretty sure if I go out there and start measuring parts of his vehicle he will figure out what I'm doing! Can anybody help? What's the standard size of the radio in a 2002 4runner? Its got wood grain panels if that helps. Also, if you can tell me the best place to find a nav. system that would be great. I want to spend $400 or less. This is the type that I'm looking for

Interesting that they need the size. Tell them it is a standard Double DIN radio and give them the year of the Runner (if you haven't already done so) see if that helps.

I could be wrong, but I don't think a NAV unit from a 2003+ 4Runner will fit in a 3rd gen.

Other than that, a standard double DIN unit will work.

Go to crutchfield, they have a fitment guide. You enter in the model/make of your car and it will display what will fit properly.

They are also very helpful on the phone and their service advisors are great.

They might be outside your budget but you can use it to find a model that fits your car and shop around for a better price. However, Crutchfield sells you a complete kit with all the bezels and wiring harness needed to connect so all you do is remove old and plug in new with no wire cutting etc..
