In Motion w/ Emergency Break

I know it's bad, and I have not done it intentially. However, just this morning I backed out of my driveway with it one, and then when I was out I realized that was the resistance I was feeling. But I am trying to make a habit of using it again.

Now commonsense tells you it's bad to have that on while in motion or driving. But my question requires a more detailed explanation:
What kind of damage can you expect from the following?
Backing out of spot and not realizing it's on
Continue driving it on for a few miles

Good questions. I've done that a couple of times and one time, my girl drove good 20 seconds with it on!! Should I tell the dealer next time it's serviced to check it out?

it's not all that bad. the ebrake is just a cable acutated (rather than hydraulic) rear brake. it's no different than applying the brakes except that it's only the rear brakes so you don't have quite the stopping power.

driving with the brake on is just like when you stop, so you'll have heating of the pads/shoes and the disk/drum. so you don't want to drive all day with it on or things may get really hot and wear out the rear brakes prematurely. other than that it's no big deal.

I've un-intentionally done it too. My brakes now squeek.

Dealer said that I have glazed my pads and the only way to get rid of the squeek is time or new pads.

I like the new brake being floor mounted, but having had the old handle brake in my old Runner, I find myself forgetting about the ebrake. Not good.

Ford used to make their push ebrakes so that when you put the tranny in gear it would automatically pop off the ebrake, nice feature.

Iman, you're probably fine. However, if you do this repeatedly, then Mike_D is correct in his answer.
