I fill up with Shell, Chevron, Arco, and other no-name brands. I don't see any difference with performance or MPG.I wonder how much fuel brand and grade make a difference. I have heard Arco is crap, I always use Chevron regular.
I haven't noticed if the tanker truck that fills up each gas station is labeled as belonging to that brand?
I wonder, has anyone followed an unbranded tanker truck to see if it only stops and refills no-name gas stations, or maybe make stops at brand name ones, too.
Correct. There are very many documentaries on that.This is actually a common misconception. Higher octane does not give you better mileage if the car does not require a higher octane for timing or compression, like the 3.4l.
Octane is not a measure of fuel quality.
I filled up with 85 Octane on my Lake Powell and my Route 66 trips and I didn't see any difference.
