Info on these TRD wheels

NO BUENO!!!! TOYOTA!!!!! If they were 17x7.5 i would have paid 200+ for them for my T4R since it was love at first sight at the FJ Summit 7.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but I would have no qualms with 285s on a 7". I've used and abused multiple sets of 285s and 315s on 7" rims without issue. Balancing, alignment was never an issue and I actually enjoyed the sidewall protection of the rim.
That being said I was happy to get them on a 7.5", but would I run it again? Absolutely.

Those are the the 7.5"s I was referring to. Before those I had 285 Hankooks and BFG ATs and 315 MTRs and KM2s on stock 7" 5 spokes from a 2000. All beat to hell appropriately and operated on road just fine.

Same here. I'm glad they are 7". That means a 255 wide tire will look right at home on these wheels and still offer some rim protection from the rocks. I think I may have to pull the trigger.

It is really hard to find information on these wheels... but according to a few guesses, I should be able to use the stock lugnuts on these. I couldn't find anyone who has heard of someone putting these on a 2014 or older model 4Runner. So I guess I will be the guinea pig

This has always pissed me off... Only until recently (last couple years) has TRD offered good looking 6 lug wheel larger than 17"... But like every damn factory Toyota rim they come in 7.5" width.. Now they rant to go further backwards with 7.0?! Look I get many people will just use 285's and that will work for 7.5" rims... But don't punish your offroad community that WANTS to pay your Dealer prices for damn good looking rims but can't because we really need at minimum a 8.0" wheel!
These things would look amazing on my 4th gen, but I need 8.0" to fit my planned 35's.
So as a fan, a Toyota Offroad enthusiast, and as one of your technicians all I have to say is...

I called to order these wheels and the dealer who I ordered my 4runner through said these wheels are $399 a piece. No thanks, I'll keep looking. He also wanted almost $300 a tire for BFG ATs. Friggin' dealers!
Actually, I've only seen the gray wheels listed. Is the black version even out? I emailed a few TRD online dealers to see what they had to say.
I really, really, would like to avoid running a 8" wide wheel and no way will I run a 9" wide wheel. I like the fact that these are 7".

The grey wheels are the only version available for purchase separately. The black versions are limited to the TRD Pro 4runner.

according to what's been published, the black TRD wheels should be available for purchase too—once the Pro comes out his fall.

and tell him he can either make some money selling you the wheels you want at a fair, competitive price or he can make no money selling you nothing at all.
When you called the dealer, what did you ask for? If you asked for the "gray TRD wheels", they might have assumed you wanted the older TRD wheels with the beadlock design. IIRC, those actually do run around $400 each. Just a thought....

^^^That's what I was afraid of. That the black wheels would be exclusive to the TRD Pro 4Runner and not available separately. I'm still looking though.
Yeah, maybe I should do that. I probably will. Problem is I want the black wheels, not the grey. I can't find the black wheels with a price listed online.
Maybe that's what he was thinking of. However, I gave him the exact part # for the black wheels and I specified "black TRD wheels". I may call them again next week.
So, does anybody have a link for the black wheels?

i'm pretty certain that the reason you can't find info on the black TRD Pro wheels is that they won't be available until after the TRD Pro model itself is released. but after that point they will—like the rest of the bolt-on TRD Pro parts—be available à la carte.
