Injector purchase

Yeah I remember reading about that. My guess is the ECU is different on those rigs and there was a electrical difference in them for that ECU.

That’s what I was thinking. Because I have a set of USDM OEM used injectors that are in spec. Except they are the Browns ones. And my 97 has the gray/greenish ones.

I’d like to keep them for back up. Just as long as those would work correctly with 97 ecu. Even though they are USDM.

i have a 99 limited. I bought six(6)new ones off ebay for 65 bucks total. I have a bunch of miles on my 99 also. I put 3 of the new ones in (1,3 and 5). They worked great. Got the other 3 to do sometime down the road. You do want you want, but i skipped the oem route.

Gonna do my knock sensors soon and was thinking about replacing my original injectors with a "rebuilt", cleaned and tested ebay denso oem set. My originals seem to be fine, but since I will be tearing everything apart I thought this would be a wise idea. Any thoughts on this?

I recommend not replacing them but having them cleaned and flow matched by either witchunter or Dr. Injector.

I met "Dr. Injector" of Sacramento and he did a fantastic job on my old injectors from another Toyota with 300k miles. Very professional and did a great job. He also told me that if I ever found 4-hole injectors for that vehicle they have a better flow pattern and would burn better. He was right. I installed the 3VZ-E Flamethrower injectors and the truck ran better and got better gas mileage. He really knew his stuff.

I wanted to follow-up and post more info on the rebuilt injectors I got from LCE Performance (https://www.lceperformance.com/5VZ-V6-Equalized-Fuel-Injector-Set-99-04-p/1062211.htm) OP, idk if you care but I figure someone might stumble on this thread in a few years and appreciate the info.

They look identical to the OEM injectors except for the color of the pintle. I replaced the one injector that was causing Cylinder 3 misfire and the problem is solved so I'm happy about that. I'll installed the other 5 injectors when I do my knock sensors in the next week or two.

I paid $300 for the set of 6 and I'm thinking I could probably have found a better deal for the same parts, but whatever I'm just glad I have some new injectors and didn't have to pay dealership prices.

I just went the eBay route with a full rebuilt set, $51, shipped from CSP or CSP performance (not in front of me). #2 was misfiring and I had 365k miles on the ORIGINAL set. Put the rebuilt set last week-- good to go. The remans from this seller were OEM remans.
Performance has been good for ca. 400 miles thus far, no more hesitation, mileage has recovered, too.
